The Australian Championship 🇦🇺🏆

Its a shame sydney united are shitting the bed because if they could get 2nd spot they would play bergers in the quarters and the melbourne cros would come out in huge numbers.
Would rather get knocked out then play the bergers and get pumped 5-0

Decent crowd of 2,000 at Marconi. If you guys can keep it above 1,500 for next 2 home matches, that would be a good base to work from.
I reckon Marconi can get better crowds than that potentially for the next games. Vs Heidelberg on a Friday night is a bigger draw and better time slot potentially weather pending. And Wollongong next weekend might bring travelling support. We’ll see.

For games v clubs like Sydney united or APIA in derbies, or a South Melbourne if scheduled and marketed properly you could get double that crowd I reckon

I agree, i think its hard to gage the crowd from games that dont provide intrigue so any solid number here is a win. Like all leagues, derbies feed the story and with the progress through the group will be the time to see what true interest there actually is.

These games against the theoretical smaller opponets are either going to work as a way of getting more ppl vested to this overall, stroke the ego for these clubs to up their game, or wake up those with the means to come on board but who sat on the fence to date.... all of which are wins!

A point to make bc a lot has been said about the crowds.... The grand finalist vs the premier in aleague opener here and the crowd is shockingly small, for the franchise considered 1 of the 2 biggest as we keep hearing, game is at a perfect time and in perfect weather and after a break! Hard to bury heads in hands now and a proper reality check for somw that we arent that far apart after all, and that a sec9nd tier doesnt hurt but like we have long argued would compliment the AL.

We start doing football porperly and we can all benefit.

Not even a trial game, first game together was against Bayswater last week.
Are the people in charge of the club been lukewarm about the comp? Or did they take it seriously and just screw up by not having friendlies to prep?

We played Brisbane Roar in 2022 at home, crowd reported was 3k, however it was close to 6k lol.
Same for Melb Knights against them in 2023, crowd was reported as 5,500 (tickets sold by fa) where as the actual figure of people there was about 9,000

Its a mix.
7-8 of our players injured and did not part take in the competition.
Quick recruitment, no time to gel.
Rejected two trials prior to the competition.
Seems like the powers to be gave up before the competition even started, last night was a reflection of that.

How thw F%$k we going to watch football in this weather?? Lets hope the rains ease the winds bc it is rediculous in Melb atm.

it will be interesting to see the crowd here today at Bayswater its a on a Sunday , as there is no other professional sporting teams on everyone played yesterday in all the codes.

Re over policing btw, in addition to the treatment of Sydney united fans and the presence of the raptor squad at the wanderers game yesterday, apparently the whole core of Melbourne victory’s north terrace have been banned by the fa. Seems like a national phenomenon and that for some reason the fa have really decided to crack down all of a sudden this season. And so the cycle of cracking down and loosening up and cracking down and repeat continues

Might try and get to the Sydney Olympic game tomorrow, hopefully a decent crowd for that one. Weather looks pretty ideal. They’re unveiling a new redesigned club crest apparently

I was speaking to a few APIA fans on friday night. Apparently Wests now own 20% of the club.

The idea is within 5 years they'll do a full take over, where they want NRL, soccer, cricket etc.

RIP APIA, if true.
Raciti is a sellout

50k heading to Optus for the cricket.

Regardless, if Bayswater get 1k+ it is a success. I don’t see it though, maybe 500 max.

Baysie get on average 200 per NPL, so I don’t really see why there would be a massive boost in the attendance.

I play cricket here in W.A and there wont be 50,000 at the cricket speaking to a lot of cricket people,

but yeah anything avoe 500 is a good result
