The Australian Championship 🇦🇺🏆

I might be wrong but that doesn’t seem right re Sydney united just based on having watched many games as the ground and seen what crowds of various sizes look like there. Might be an under quote. I seem to recall beretta previously saying some offical crowds were smaller than the true figure due to the way numbers were counted. But again, i might be wrong

was definitely not 953.

i've attended 25 matches this season, and our regular crowd at NPL level is under 1k, and against Bayswater it was double that.

As awesome as it is that Christie Park is hosting interstate games, it's not exactly built for that. Really, only one of the six NSW teams (Olympic at Jubilee) is playing somewhere that you can get to easily without driving. If the NSW Government is as serious about supporting the Championship as they say they are, then they should be organising special public transport for the NSW home games. I don't expect them to, but a man can dream.
900m walk from Macquarie Park Metro

Fa would have official numbers from ticket sales u would think

A corrolary of that tho is there is little reason to underreport or over report crowd numbers
Perhaps the crowds that looked bigger had some non paying people in the crowd and heidelberg had some people not in camera view?

The FA take a percentage of the ticket sales.

If you get cash on gate sales on the day, you'll never get the right number lol.

We played Brisbane Roar in 2022 at home, crowd reported was 3k, however it was close to 6k lol.

Impressive commitment to live football, B.

Good to see Bayswater entice spectators.

We are very lucky to have you on this forum!

Was at this one, the ground is hard to gage bc of its size, standing traffic opposite was way more then normal volume (many of the junior players) & VIP room was full bc of event for occasion they had.

They still fudged it, they had 1,500 against Wellington in the cup and the crowd that night was 100% bigger than last Sunday. An absolute shitload of seats were empty as well and they only have a thousand of them. They were clearly desperate to announce a number that started with 2 after the cup final. A couple months ago in early stages of cup run they probably didnt care but now they have to create the illusion that they have a bigger fan base.

Flawed stat, of that 10 million, how many are/were Indians/Arabs/Asians that have absolutely zero interest in football at all. I’d say a massive portion.

YOUR club has been around for decades, so you’d think you’d have more rusted on supporters than most of these “plastic” franchises given you’d have 40+ years to attract supporters right?

My club was in the same comp as yours pre A-league? so is my club plastic?
@biggiemic a timely post from my club celebrating one of these new Indian migrants with (according to you) no interest in football.
Also according to Simon Hill, the impossible scenario of a non- Greek being a rusted on volunteer for a Greek club... 😎 😎 😎

Nah they’re basically just a suburban club, again they only recently got promoted to npl, was a bit of an anomaly that they were able to win the league and quality this year. Akin to an eastern lions or something
Not disagreeing and In fairness they have been in NPL2 prior promotion for many seasons and for a local club have a general good following coupled with strong W teams that Chritie park is very busy all weekends.
Also its the only major NPL club on the northside - I expect it will have a decent crowd (for its small venue) amongst the interested locals/many registered players/families - won't be 1854 like the MV Cup game but 500+ would be pretty good - putting my neck out.

NSW Spirit 0. Melbourne Victory 4. CROWD. 1,854 (124% of capacity). DATE. Wednesday 28th August 2024.

Great to see our Asian cousins are paying attention :)

And again, the broadcast at Sydney united is taken from the main grandstand and only part of the ground with some cover from the elements, at Heidelberg it was facing the main grandstand

Boka Stand, club 5000 has a lot of members in there as they serve drinks in that area. which isnt shown on the broadcast.

Undercover Grandstand 1 - Already Sold out.
Fucken changed my tips for this match 20 times.... settled on SU for the win at home in front of a massive crowd.. good luck, and tell old mate with his jersey tucked in his pants to give the ball back quicker next time.....
