The Australian Championship 🇦🇺🏆

Any word on how many tickets Sydney United have sold for their allocation? I heard Joe Kay say on The Second Ball Podcast that they have sold 1k of their allocation. That would be a huge effort

Finally back to some football talk.

We have had the better of APIA, i think we only lost twice in our last 15 meetings.

However they will be heavy favorites tomorrow night.
true - APIA have always had tough games with SU.
Its a challenge no matter where on the table.
This seasons 2 games have been 0-0 and 1st round 2-1 win to SU.
We came out trumps and winners for 25 but I don't know what to expect this game which is exciting and tense pre game.
The wet (by the sounds of it) Leichardt pitch will be a leveler though, my viewing there many times when wet players loose their footing alot, so opportunities will lie for both sides.
May the best on the night win, too many it would be strange having feelings for both clubs as I do but I have been to more APIA games over the years than SU so the Tigers it is.

How do spirit fc go at home games decent crowd wise?

Doubt avondale are going to bring anyone
Nah they’re basically just a suburban club, again they only recently got promoted to npl, was a bit of an anomaly that they were able to win the league and quality this year. Akin to an eastern lions or something

Hopefully sydney united can lift

Every other team hitting or exceeding expectations

I might be wrong but that doesn’t seem right re Sydney united just based on having watched many games as the ground and seen what crowds of various sizes look like there. Might be an under quote. I seem to recall beretta previously saying some offical crowds were smaller than the true figure due to the way numbers were counted. But again, i might be wrong

Yeah looked 2k live

So did hobart

Heidelberg looked like 500

So who knows

Correct, who knows but would be surprised if there were more than double the amount of people at Olympic village than edensor
Fa would have official numbers from ticket sales u would think

A corrolary of that tho is there is little reason to underreport or over report crowd numbers
Perhaps the crowds that looked bigger had some non paying people in the crowd and heidelberg had some people not in camera view?

Who knows. Maybe the figures are correct
although that shifts the question of why Sydney United underperformed so badly? Did word of police scare fans away? Did 20 years in the wilderness hurt them more than other nsl giants?

If so i dare say the main factors would have been the opponent not being a draw card (remember their last big home game was the cup game against Sydney fc) and as beretta said they’re probably one of the few ex nsl clubs who have actually had a pretty steady stream of big matches on the national stage compared to others (derbies v Sydney fc x2 and wanderers, aus cup finals etc) so this probably wasn’t as much of an “event” as it was for other clubs. and I know it’ll be seen as a cop out but the weather wasn’t ideal, was extremely windy and raining and there’s very little protection from the elements at king Tom. Whether people think they’re good reasons or not those are probably the main reasons

In saying all that, they’d not be happy with 900 as a figure and would aiming for better than that I’m sure

Was at this one, the ground is hard to gage bc of its size, standing traffic opposite was way more then normal volume (many of the junior players) & VIP room was full bc of event for occasion they had.

That can only be online sales, We sold just under 1000 tickets before match day online.

with our community a lot by at the gate, i for one, bought tickets at the gate for my old man, the older generations don't know how to buy online. So i wouldnt take that 953 number as gospel. How do they determine how many tickets are sold on the day in cash?
