Have said it before, but semis should be over 2 legs home and away imo instead of neutral.

The football gods answered my prayers In all seriousness, Preston were dominant all game on the attacking front but never finished them off, and Spirit just refused to die

Finally watched the replays

No joy for me today since I backed Metro and Preston, but good games nonetheless

Metro are so far ahead of South australia but still seem to be a bit behind the NSW and Vic teams both in terms of on field quality and facilities....I don't see how they improve without a home and away. Posession based teams tend to improve over the course of a season but I doubt they will have enough time in 6 games to improve enough to make the knockouts, so not feeling optimistic about their chances

You know what I find the funniest about all this Simon, anyone that follows the Aleague is cheering on the Aus championship, but anyway who is associated with the NSL/aus championship just bags the Aleague. Who’s the problem do you think?

Yeah Metro have lost a few of their good players overseas and to A-League in recent windows but still manage to be a cut above in SA. Before the previous window I'd say they would've been just behind the top Vic/NSW clubs, but as I mentioned the other day, Metro have fallen behind now without the big signings of those other clubs this window. They might need to warm up a bit as well to the style of the eastern states. I'll be pleasantly surprised if they get out of the group.

I saw that post. Hill noting the "death to A-League" crowd.

I can see why he would think that, its easy to miss the fire flying the other way and one is punching down the other punching up

Neutrals on friday night were treated to a great game, cracking goals, great crowd, a good show piece of what this tournament is about.

However, all the online talk is about the crowds. Only in Australia.

Whoever thinks the 6k on Friday night, and the 4k yesterday at the Preston game is shit, you got unrealistic views and expectations.

Both had great turn outs and kudos to both clubs.

@Beretta they mention potentially Vlastelica not listed in the squad, heard anything in regards to this? Would be a massive out if so. Apologies if it’s already been mentioned and I missed it

He is out.

Taking his Honeymoon.

As the captain of the club and leader, i cant say i am happy about it, but it's been a long season.

It is understandable though JS96.

The 'aleague' excluded the other clubs on national identity grounds.

If a person hits another person you cannot expect the victim to just accept it. The striker may not have a problem and be friendly after but it is a lot harder for the victim to simply ignore it and move on.

I can see why the reactions are there at the same time as hoping the rift will heal in time.

As I think Grazor said somewhere - once the rift is healed the antagonism becomes outright and relevant sporting rivalry. Having former NSL teams included in the same competition as aleague teams (like in the Australia Cup) would add a fantastic level of competition to the fixtures.

It would have a feeling like the old days of Roar v Gold Coast, with the 'superstar, pedestal boys' of the Gold Coast holding a particular place of 'sport hatred' in our orange hearts.
