The Australian Championship 🇦🇺🏆

We are not in competition and the sooner people figure that out the better off we will be.

I don't give a stuff about actual attendance numbers - I care that the ground had enough to hold an atmosphere. An excellent turnout for a great start.

The football had some moments of fluffery, but for the most part it showed a high level of skill and cohesion. Some very fast individual plays and team plays on show. Cracking goals, and that poster was a clencher - positive it was going to go in. There were some really nice goals from both sides.

The miss by the South player when he had time and space and put it high had the feel of a critical turning point at the time.

I can imagine the
1/ Oh no!
2/ Phew back in it
3/ Yeah we da best
4/ Oh fark
5/ Fuck yeah!!
6/ Tweeeeet - YAHOO!!!!
nature of the South experience.

Haven't we all been through that roller coaster.

Glass half full take:
Todays division is tomorrows banter if these clubs are ever in the same league due to a pyramid

All I can say is that I cannot bloody wait for my trip to Sydney to watch us take on Olympic in the return rubber!

Great to speak to a couple of Olympic fans as well.

And a bonus is my first ever visit to Brisbane, ostensible for work. But, hey .... you all know the reason. I want to eat some Moreton Bugs!
Need brissy recommendations? West end is a nice place if u want a place to chill. The three monkeys has a nice vibe

Some of the best Japenese food ive ever had (including Japan) is in the city

The best steak ive ever had is in the brewery in the cbd

If crowd sizes were exaggerated on either side (a league/npl/nst) that would leak

We get perth glory ceos tax information, im skeptical a conspiracy could be kept quiet
Having been to Bluetongue (I still call it that) about a thousand times I can usually tell within 500 what the crowd is. Probably only two occasions in 20 years where they've announced a crowd substantially above my estimate and I gathered they counted all the season ticket seats which hadn't been filled - which is fair enough as they'd been paid for.

Don't know if anyone has said this - I hate the scorebug. Given how clean and simple the NPL scorebug is, it really sucks that SBS has gone with something that looks like it belongs more in a video game.
I also found it strange that the formations Parrish gave were considerably different from what the screen showed. Same players, but very different positions. (I was only listening the first time I heard the team lists, not watching. Upon rewatching I realise I'd just misinterpreted.)

On the whole, the game was solid. Went about as I expected, South Melbourne were the better, more organised team overall, and it was only Olympic's stacked offence that kept them in it. If anything Olympic were more in the game than I thought they would be.

Scorebug looks awful first thing I realised when I turned on the broadcast

Don’t expect a pretty game, dare say tsekenis plan will be to turn it into a slog
Will be a proper clash of differing styles thats for sure .. pretty football or not we will make a day of it support the championship and hopefully see a marconi win! Would like nothing more than a classic clash of titans with your mob in the next round hopefully.

First half of Metrostars vs APIA has been a bit of a slog. Metrostars are the much more disciplined team but the talent on APIA's side is starting to show through. They should be able to take control in the second half - especially with how stacked the bench is as well.

I will be there supporting Marconi,
i said the same thing above to glenardo... imagine the footballing gods align and we get a that clash with marconi quaters or semi? Nothing qgainst Olympic but a clash vs MARCONI at lakeside has more of a special taste to it..
Bergers again last night showing themselves to be a bunch of flogs, again commitee members speaking out against South, they can get fucked. Had a gutful of these whinging fuckers.
Thats their inferiority complex.... id like a qaurter final or a semi final vs them as long as its not home of the matildas, the neutral venue will be a problem here, would be a bumper crowd i reckon!

South have played Olympic in the odd friendly here and there over the years, but has been a long time since they’ve crossed paths with likes of Marconi or Sydney united
