Is the team still shaping to line up in a 4-2-2-2/4-1-3-2 like they did at the Asian Cup?

I’ve also noticed we only got one recognised left back and no wingers in the team which is interesting too.
 
Italy don't look to be taking a team with much senior experience. I would say most of the kids who have been playing senior football haven't been released.

Players like Pio Esposito, Carmada, Camuzzo etc.

A few Argentine players from the team that beat Australia have also not been included in the final squad. Either cause they have been called back or they've been omitted, but it wont be the same teams.

Yeah powerhouses are still rediculously good at this level, but beatable
 
This is the spiritual home of our youth teams. Not sure we need a separate WC thread for Australia? If so then for the campaign as individual match threads get disjointed with the overall discussion.

I've created a thread for the rest of the tournament matches

Thread 'U20 WC Chile 2025'

Gets underway tonight. This is the highest possible level of a world cup before the senior one. Of course there are continental tournaments and even the Olympics but this is a big one and Australia is in it.

Curious to see how the tournament goes.

I like tournament specific threads for Australian teams as it makes it easier to look back over. The big threads are great for nearly everything else and is something of a news ticker. I'll put one together now.

Another thing is the tournament match threads get a lot of short messaging traffic as we react live in the game.

Thankfully the U17 WC is annual so hopefully we can get in next team. Lots of games the past week in Qatar.
