What I would do for the backline next week is.
Tracey, Montoya, Kiraz, Xerri, Rinakama.

14 Sexton.

All of that back 5 can make yards.

Consider starting Sexton if Montoya isn't right.

Sexton offers valuable impact off the bench. And the way our luck is going, we might get another injury/HIA to a centre/winger.

The other change i would make is, drop Salmon, start Curran at lock and Hughes at prop.

We lacked some size/physicality in the starting pack especially when Kiks went off. Panthers and Warriors are both likely to have big physical packs.

Salmon stood out as playing really well against the Sharks, I didn't notice him doing much good or bad against the Storm.

If our pack can hold the line in the first 20 mins, i think that the back 5 above can win the yardage grind. And if we need points with 20 minutes to go, throw Sexton on.

Thought the ref did well there was a few calls that could have been called against us but he reviewed and ultimately made the decision to play on.. not sure what the reset /penalty count was but we didn't get too many piggy backs which generally help to put a team in scoring position. Forward passes were questionable.

I'd like to play Penrith and Cronulla on the way to the GF don't care who we meet there..

Post race analysis there's a few things we could pull up.. lol
Sometimes you get the luck, other times you don't.

Usually the team that wins the GF gets a good slice of luck in one finals game.

The Sexton try was slightly lucky, but also was very smart play from Sexton.

Otherwise, I thought that the luck and ref decisions ran 70/30 in favour of the Storm.

We might be lucky next game. We probably need a bit of luck to get the result.

The team that wins the collisions usually gets more luck, all 3 Storm trys had an element of them winning the collision.

But there were penalties when we were well on top or when the Storm had no momentum that counted and shifted momentum. That was partially luck, because they were 50-50 at best.

We also had a few Storm attempts at academy award winning acting in an attempt to win a penalty.

Some of the more professional sides are very well drilled on how to earn penalties and how to obtain maximum advantage without earning penalties.

In part that is why we need to win more collisions.

Anybody miss Mahoney?
I would consider playing Marhoney again but if it is 50-50, I would rather have Hughes or Sexton in the side.

Hayward missed 15 tackles, but I thought that he was one of our better players.

Normally, I think that if a player seems to be playing well watching live they are playing well. Sometimes if you watch a replay you can spot players playing well that you didn't notice live.

Stats don't always tell the story, especially middle of the road stats.

I think that the coach has done a good job selecting the team and he has got more right than wrong.

I understand the selection of Galvin, but I am also happy to have Sexton on the bench. Sexton starting and Galvin on the bench is the other option, but I think Galvin can sustain 80 minutes of energy and involvement and can make more plays. Occasionally, Sexton makes really good plays.

If the coach thought that Marhoney was a better option at any time, I wouldn't have a problem with that.

It isn't a totally forlorn hope that if we could somehow make the GF we might have our strongest team on the paddock and everyone might be in good form.

That requires 2 wins, neither will be easy to get.

While we don't know anything, Critter making it back for a GF is my most optimistic take. Quick surgery and 2 weeks of healing if the injury requires that, and that will work.

This time of the season, if they think surgery will get the player back faster, they do it.

It also makes a big difference when the ref doesn't allow the opposition to camp on our line for 10 minutes due to bogus infringments.

Yeah I don't fall for the ref excuses if we are good enough we overcome the referees decisions.. after a win we don't sit back and say geez the ref helped us out there lol

Some games you get them others you don't.

In a close semi final, it can be the difference. But the result never changes after the full-time whistle.

Not many, but there were a few things that we could have done better.

Winning the contact is one thing. We were held down in ways that often earn a 6-again and the ref ruled dominant tackle.

This is why Thompson will make a big difference next season, and perhaps why Hughes should play the next game.

Who do we play next winner of Panthers Warriors or other game ?I am cheering on warriors big time but they can be their own worst enemy .
If warriors win and we play them will be the easier of the 4 teams . Pandas and gooses probably the toughest as they are finals season veteran teams . Sharks tend to choke in seme finals except 2015 . Then again we have not been any better ..

We play the winner of Panthers and Warriors.

Both teams impressive, especially Panthers.

We have to be good enough to win 2 hard games.

Whatever happens, this season is a step forward.

Last season I didn't really mind losing the semi. This season I am far more optimistic about our prospects.

Bring on the Panthers - id like to win that game and take on the Sharks tbh don't care who we play in the GF 🤞

We have nothing to lose.

A win would be one of greatest Dogs wins ever.

Panthers might be the toughest opponent we will face.

Dogs crowd need to lift the team big time.

Good experience for our side.

I am happy for Cirro to keep backing his judgement, when we lose the critics are out in force, that doesn't mean that the coach is wrong.

Sometimes it means valuable lessons for the coach and he might do things differently in future.

With the benefit of hindsight i might have rested more players against the Tigers, Roosters and Sharks.

But if we lost the first 2 games while resting players critics would have been out in force.
