2025 Australia Cup final rounds thread

Ws listening to abc radio in car before.

for three days in a row they've been talking Australian cup. Interviews with Avondale coach etc

Then talked about Preston one day being able to join the a-league

yesterday a segment on the bergers. I can't remember that coverage in previous years.

If only SEN could talk about it(indeed, ⚽️ in general) freely, instead of gleefully being the AFL’s radio-equivalent of Pravda or Der Sturmer…

A lot of it is the luck of the draw but somehow it keeps happening that the top few Victorian clubs on the table qualify for the cup, where for example this year from nsw it was APIA near the top, then Sydney united mid table, then 2 npl 2 clubs. Very rare that the better npl nsw clubs have qualified. The top teams keep knocking each other out in the earlier rounds, so maybe a better account of npl nsw might have been given if the best teams had been there by the national rounds.

And I know what people will say, clubs should take it more serious then, excuses etc etc

Don't know about the validity of that mate, South were fighting relegation and Nunawading still are...
 
Since for a few of the A league clubs treat this cup as a preseason kickandgiggle, do you think the championship foundation clubs will feel the same way next year?

South Melb last time around when they made the semi, not this time.

I know it’ll be perceived as grasping at straws, but I’m saying over the 10 or so years of the cup, it’s been fewer of that top of the table npl nsw clubs that have qualified, npl vic have had teams like Oakleigh, bentleigh, south, Avondale, this year Bergers who are all challenging for the league at the time they went on cup runs. The only top of the table nsw club who have qualified regularly has been APIA. Every other time it’s been majority mid table or npl 2 teams

It is what it is, that’s cup football

fair call... The bugbear down here is (at least it seems) that all the top clubs knock each other out very early in the cup... Agreed, it is what it is, cup football is beautiful :)

Not really an anomlay mate, I think every city in Australia is wonderful especially Adelaide (even though Ive never been to Darwin, Im sure it is fine too)... everywhere has its pros and cons...

Wherever "home" is today is the best of the best because thats were family and friends are, otherwise who really gives a shit which city is "better" than the others?
