Aussies abroad 🌍🦘

Looking at the Portsmouth squad, it's quite raw at Championship level. One hopes there'll be a bunch to announce themselves in this tough league. The fear is they look vulnerable and one or two more experienced heads would be useful. I really hope it's the wild kids kill it vs too naive to survive.
I tend to agree. Not sure how stacked they are in the middle but you'd think Luongo would have been a good signing for someone who has been there done that.

Maybe they breached their Aus player quota lol

Xhaka to Sunderland. Well that's clear for Triantis now.

Getting out of dodge before the Ten Hag sinking ship hits Leverkusen

Seems Triantis has been played at CB mostly so maybe this signing won't effect his place in the squad.
Noticed on fantasy a number of red ticks on Sunderland defenders but oddly Cirkin should be back on July 17 and it's still red. O'Nein out until September. They're got options.

Signed a few others the past days. Depth but raw. Might even get a few discards with experience before window ends.

Como, Italy: Marco Tilio's outstanding preseason form was rewarded with a start for Celtic in their Como Cup match against highly fancied Al Ahli. Everything good Celtic did was orchestrated by the wee man from down under. Brendan Rodgers was particularly impressed and was quoted "He's everything we need in a winger. You know its not easy for him to come to the other side of the world but I must say I was particularly impressed with his technical ability, his physicality and mentality. We'll certainly be looking to go into that market (A-league) again in the future as it seems to have a wealth of untapped talent." according to sources familiar with the matter. The plaudits didn't end there with thousands of Celtic fans voicing their praise for Tilio's performance on social media.

Very good news!

And one of your best posts, Loops!

Keep them coming!

It's hard to imagine that this U20 World Cup won't be missing a decent amount of all the best players as the clubs aren't obliged to release them.

I guess there is the risk of upsetting the player if he has his heart set on going. Will be interesting.
I think it is pretty tough on players stopping them going to even an underage WC.

It may be the only time some players get to play international football, or, a World Cup at any level.

From my observations most clubs will be OK with releasing them provided they aren't a part of their first team squad. It's good experience for them. If they are part of their first team needs they tend to be reluctant.

He was taking the piss.Tilio was roasted on the fans forum and I can not find any where that BR said that
Thanks!

I wondered if it might be the case Loops was winding unsuspecting people like me up? This thread is my major source of finding out what Aussies are doing overseas. Most posts have been genuine accounts of players' progress.

What a shame if Tilio was roasted by fans. However, I'm going to pull rank on them and say often fans know little about performance facets in football, outside a few that stand out and are easy to identify.

Hopefully, in a comprehensive performance check list, Tilio did some things well. I've loved watching Tilio in the AL.

Have people not put him on ignore yet?
I'm hoping Loops will assimilate - eventually.

I'll hold out a bit longer before putting him on Ignore. Ostensibly, he is/was a business person. Shame he is wasting time on here he could be spending earning money for himself.

This forum is a study into the delusion of cults. When I provide an accurate report I'm shot down, called a liar and put on mass ignore.
When I provide the report you want to hear its accepted. I watched all of these games. I'm going to guess around 99% here who've commented haven't.

Celtic fans are considerably more educated on the game than A-league fans, so I would caution against 'pulling rank' on their judgement.

At the 2014 WC, Stan Collymore claimed that English stakeholders in the know, considered that Australia is able to forge national team units, that are greater than the individuals that comprise the team, because of so many Aussies playing national underage team football using the same system. Plus they experience playing in Asia, in unfamiliar, sometimes tough conditions.

At the same time SC said English players often weren't released by clubs, or persuaded to knock back underage English selection. He also said they were often confused with differing training regimes and tactics at underage national level.

A shame you've been accused of being a liar, Loops. I'd like to think I haven't, whilst you've accused me of being one. Other people's morality doesn't determine mine.

Few Celtic fans are ex pro or semi-pro footballers, or trained coaches.

They tend to overlook many facets of performance criteria.

Maybe use some specific performance criteria for all the Aussie players you denigrate, or/and add some stats.

Best of luck in your business ventures too.
