Exactly, it’s not envy for envy’s sake per se but resentment at the fact those people tend to use their platform for their own career-advancement rather than to keep the bastards honest. It’s my main bugbear w/those influencer-types like Claudes Fabiano, Kat Sasso, Lavender Baj etc.

Even if it is simply a matter of having to toe the party-line, I venture to state most anyone with a modicum of even slightly-above-average intelligence will still find a way around it regardless - hence why I don’t let the aforementioned types off the hook⚠️

I never claimed to be a "sports" fan like you did.. I just like "da sokkah" and maybe watch a bit of AFL, Basketball or NFL out of curiosity...

Hahah not really I bag out NRL because I dont understand the appeal of people beating each other up while using a ball as an excuse to do so... Either play Soccer or do boxing or wrestling what the fuck is the point of combining the two... Its like Polo, shit either just ride a horse or play hockey.

For the record I stated that I dont blame S Hill for his cronysim, like I said before we all have to tow the line sometimes.

Even when you own your own business you have to tow the line sometimes matey.. You know that... Your not accountable to a boss but you DO need to keep clients and staff happy.. There are levels to everything.

To be honest, I draw too much enjoyment from being a football fan. Maybe (If I wasn't such a shitkicker) a pro playing career would have been nice but Im happy being a club member.

P.S not offended. just wanted to explain I didnt hate S Hill.

yep we all cool as expressed the 3 of us.

As for the rest above - the pundits are a condute between their employer/clubs and US supporters.
IMO they should be asking questions/presenting in discussion what the goss is from the market/supporters.
They are spokesman after all, we all are passionate about the game, be players to us wannabe ones.
Considering the game has kept struggling I feel they should be asking questions or make points publicly so things get out on the open.
The FA like any Corp/Board hide behind their offices, surely we have come to the time people start to try get the "suits" more accountable wouldn't you think in this day and age.
 
I wonder if similar media and cultural put-downs of football culture by journalists or fans of dominant rival codes exist in other countries, and is it as entrenched as Australia?

I know it's a completely different scenario but I remember when England somehow won the so-called rugby union 'world' cup and a lot of the English rugby journalists started to carry on with "this is the end of football....blah blah blah..."" Rugby can become our national pastime blah blah blah"

The football crowd didn't say too much. Just carried on being football and I think were rather unimpressed by the rugger buggers new found enthusiasm.....

The recent WC was massive, never seen interest that big, the Matildas are also massive, the Asian cup and Olympics are also followed
The O/S competitions are followed with 80K to 100k attending.
I see more kids with premier league kits than any AFL merch.
Lots of NRL fans and players follow EPL sides.

The premier domestic league is the A-League. Its a joke in terms of general public interest, media interest, attendances and viewership, not to mention the disastrous financial situation.

The one and only thing that football has to cling to is international competition. The socceroos and matildas have zero impact on the domestic leagues (or the AFL).

The kids with EPL kits is just another example that has zero impact domestically,

I take no pleasure in any of this and it pains me that the A-League didn't kick on from its halcyon days under Fox Sports and Lowy.

And how does any of that help football domestically? When I see those kids wearing domestic club shirts with domestic players names and numbers then maybe, but otherwise none of that makes the game domestically stronger.

The domestic leagues do effect the Matilda's and socceroos as that's where the players come from. But people don't care they seem happy to just watch the world cup games or Asian cup finale
