Old A-League

Nick Carle for the Newcastle Jets. Great solo goal.

If we could get the best resolution of one of the top A-League goals that would be great. Unfortunately, every copy of this goal looks like it was filmed with a potato.

Just found this hidden in a video published by the APL last year. Probably the best quality we can hope for:

I think APL now own all the historical A-League footage.

You know what I would like? Some of the missing games in wanderers magical run to win the acl

I know some people are uber club loyalists, but for me any team in asia is repping the country and that was almost as special as qualifying for the world cup in 2005 and had bigger emotions for me than winning the Asian cup in2015

I have found a few documentaries and a few full length games but a lot are missing

I thought this might be about the NSL rebranding to A-League in the 90s 😄
Didn’t that end up being in effect only for the ‘95-‘96 pre-season before it was rescinded in favour of the Ericsson Cup name?

I recall Melbourne Knights played a friendly against a J-League club(forgot which one) during that period; the matchday-program identified Croatia/Knights as being from the Australian A-League*

*Johnny Warren in his book also briefly mentioned the shortlived name-change.

What’s the first vid’s relevance to the topic❓

Ha just realised it. Was watching some videos on that channel and accidentally copied that link too.

Consider the A League the day at school!

Well I spotted a couple of yearbooks calling the NSL league "A-League" in the latter 90s. I think I might've written about this on the old forum. @Monoethnic Social Club might've told the story.

Found my old post on here mentioning it...

Yeah I nearly snorted out my coffee when I saw "A-League" mentioned in a 90s yearbook! It seems to have popped up around 1995 and lingered to 2003, although some had returned to calling it NSL by then.
