Australian transfers 26-27 Summer

Benfica will play Europa league this season. They’ve generally been the bridesmaid of the league in recent times but it’s a better run club than Parma.

Parma are in trouble with Suzuki leaving. They’re bottom half of the table fodder. Who knows what happens to them this season.

Ale is a better player than Lenglet in my opinion so there’s a good chance he’ll slot right in.

Sorry, yes youre right. Was thinking top 3 in Portugal qualify for UCL (or at least the Quali's) but it is only the top 2 which is a bit surprising given the ELO rankings of Portugals top 4 clubs let alone top 3 (braga have a good rating these days).

Would rather metcalf stay put. I think he is a fringe big 5 quality player. Needs to be a much better goal scorer to play for a better team as an attacker or be better at progression if a mid
I agree he is fringe top 5 but maybe lower Bundi is not out of reach. 8 is his best position, imo. He was good against Turkiye and seemed affected by head injury in other match. It is a bit hard to place him. I would have said Russia before the war but that's not really an option now. Maybe Jupiler now. It'll be interesting to see how Okon-E goes at Koln. He has added appeal because of his potential. I doubt Metcalfe will get a move up, more likely to stay by the looks of it. The only thing I'd add is that Hrustic got minutes (23 matches, av 42min per match) in a strong E Frankfurt team so drawing a line from that I have hope that he is capable of lower Bundi, given that I think he is the better player.

Agree on the lack of goals. Like Arzani, Metcalf has never scored enough goals for his position. Leckie had the same issue. Seems to be a repeating pattern with Australians.

Personally I think he's a bit of a luxury player. He's neither strong at breaking a press through ball carrying nor is he strong at progressive passing. These are attributes most top European clubs look for in their 8's.

He's athletic, good at running into space and has a decent strike on him.

Very underwhelmimg fee compared to what was being bandied about.

Little underwhelming move too compared to the other clubs that were mooted. Whilst a big 3 club, Benfica have been behind the other 2 in recent yrs. Porto had a revival last season and won the league, and for 3 of the 4 seasons before that Sporting were champions, and made UCL qtrs last season.
Benfica have no money to spend...

Velupillay in Germany for a medical to a Bundesliga 2 team. He's actually sitting with me in a Hannover Cafe right now....

Hannover coach wants 4 more players but we have probably enough wingers. I suspect Magdeburg, Osnabrück, Braunschweig or Darmstadt.
Where is the creep shot photo?

Hrustic is not the player now that he was prior to wc 2002. That ankle injury and then the yr off from Salernitana killed him. Seems to have lost a lot physically since then including a yard of pace, strength and agility.

at first glance seeing circati to portugal was wtf? i havent paid close attention to parma since grella and bresciano were there. but considering where they were when parmalat were funnelling dodgy money their way, cannavaro, buffon, zola, crespo etc, its sad to see them so far down the pecking order. (yes, i know they came back from serie d oblivion).
i know that the big boys of portugal are often going deep into the uefa champs, but has serie a really fallen so far that a move from a mid-lower table team like parma to benfica can be seen as a sideways move?

Parma to Benfica is not a sideways move.

Have you been paying attention to Italian football since Grella and Bresc were there? Genuine question.
