2026 Australia Cup final rounds thread

I will agree that Adelaide does punch above it’s weight and probably has historically the strongest football culture outside of Syd/Melb.

The above statement re Adelaide United’s relationship with the local npl clubs is probably indicative of that difference in dynamic between old soccer and new football in Adelaide vs how it is in Sydney and Melbourne as has been touched on in the past. The traditional clubs there seem to have accepted their role as feeder clubs for Adelaide United, where as in Syd/Melb it’s much more of an adversarial relationship/ a rivalry between peers

Yeah I think this variety should be embraced instead of trying to get all of Australian soccer on one page of development.
There's the SA style, almost street football types like Irankunda and Toure getting nurtured by the Reds. Then there are the various styles and cultures of football coming through the local clubs. Then there are the academies producing what could be considered your more rigid robot types.

Variety is the spice of life and there's a place for all of them, especially in a Socceroos guernsey!

Continues to amaze me how many supporters APIA can pull out of the wood work for bigger games on the national stage who would be rarely sighted at an npl game. Their support doubles or triples, and it’s people wearing merch etc. Sydney united solid away support too as expected. crowd approaching the aus championship game between the two club last season
Gee I wonder, a real mystery as to how all those kids & mums have a club tracksuit on
