The Western United Thread

This is being pushed by our Board. Some South fans are against it, others are indifferent, whilst others are in favour of joining A League.
I hope the club find a unified direction, I think it'd be great to see south in the A-League.

Is there still tension between the south and victory fans?

Would definitely add some spice to fixtures, I recall attending a south VS MVFC youth league match many moons ago which the Victory fans ran to try and start south fans. Cringe moment.

- Picking the one place in Melbourne that doesn't give a fuck about Football

- Picking a vague name that doesn't represent anyone

- "Shovel ready on Day 1"

- SOIL TESTS

- Turning down Knights offer to fix up Somers Street to play there

- Trying to take Lakeside from South

- Trying to appeal to Greeks with the one player that they hate

- A training ground & a half built car park after 5 years

What other lore have I missed
This is essentially the only summary needed of this abomination of a football club.

I reckon they should have just stayed in geelong or Ballarat. As soon as they started playing at aami you knew they weren't a serious club.

Bad enough having two teams at aami

Victory play in the AL and Vic NPL. Why couldn't Sth Melb do the same? You'd have football all year round.

Bigger question is what happens to the Championship.
We will still be doing ofc and npl not sure if we will be in the championship since that’s meant to be our second division but I’m sure we will still be pushing for pro rel

Hopefully at least you get to play in this years Aus Champs, regardless if your club gets accepted.

If I had my way, and the pyramid was opened (A-League > Championship > State PL's), then same as now, A-League academy's can play in the senior pyramid, and then just like Spain/Germany/Italy, clubs can be promoted into the Championship, provided the senior team isn't relegated into the Championship as well
