Hows about the lack of promotion and advertising by Adelaide United for Thursday nights game.

Sign Up Now!AU fielded one of their youngest ever sides in the SA NPL on the weekend. The more 'senior players' (aged between 18-20) of the normal SA NPL squad played no minutes and have been training with the first team in preparation for the matchAssuming that Lampard, Eliopoulos, Mikkola, Menelaou and Lopez remain injured then the Starting XI on Thursday is:
Charlston
Giannakopoulos
Jankovic
Ramazani
Painter-Andrews
Pasquali
Retre
Yoo
Uchida
Cocks
Juach
Bench - Skapoulas, Swibel, Nkwomo
I can see Sinisa starting Giannakopoulos in defence given Lampard's absence and playing Retre in the midfield. Then he can move Giannakopoulos into the midfield after Retre comes off with 15-20 minutes remaining. Nkwomo can slip into defence.
Interesting to see how Adelaide United treat this fixture - whether they rest players or field their strongest XI to kill off the match early.
Appreciate the insight. That makes good sense from an AUFC perspective.AU fielded one of their youngest ever sides in the SA NPL on the weekend. NOBODY IS.I'm not sure what to make of the above.
I believe it's going to be a very strong AU side, theres no major injuries in the group currently (besides piersas whi is still rehabbing from ACL injuriy) - pending 1 more training session before the match.A

I would not be surprised to see them line up like the below (with either goodwin or muniz on the bench)
Smits
Barnett / Kikianis / Vriends / Kitto
Duzel /Alagich
Yull / Goodwin / brazete
Anselmo
Score a couple goals early, kill the game and then bring on several kids to give the senior players more of a chance to rest for the asian champions league match in august
AU will probably be fielding a lot of NPL players.Assuming that Lampard, Eliopoulos, Mikkola, Menelaou and Lopez remain injured then the Starting XI on Thursday is:

as i said above, alot of there regular npl players did not play any minutes in the recent SA npl match against sturt. Some of the below have already made debuts for AUAU will probably be fielding a lot of NPL players.
So not that much interest in the match.
i think it really depends on souths mentallity, AU have shown they are suceptible to being 'bullied' by aggresive or more physical opponents. If AUFC is up 2-0 after 30 minutes, its pretty much game over for us. We need to either go into the halftime break level or 1-0 up at least.
Agree - we cant park the bus against AUFC. We need to go out and win the match. Too much quality on the park for Adelaide.m not saying come out all gung ho, but they need to attack AU as much as possible. The last thing you would want is parking the bus and having players of the quality of goodwin or muniz pinging the ball around the box - you'd be asking for trouble.
There is a bit of a mini surge of momentum at the moment. The new blood has settled well and the second keeper has almost kept a clean sheet against one of the trickiest attacks in Melbourne. You cant say we are a physical team but I have a feeling we will come out of the sheds with something to prove.i think it really depends on souths mentallity, AU have shown they are suceptible to being 'bullied' by aggresive or more physical opponents.

I agree, if its is close by the end of the 90 mins we get it on pure adrenaline alone I reckon.I am expecting a strong AUFC starting XI on Thursday night. My assumption will be as yours @TheSecretScout, where AUFC looks to kill off the match early and then play the kids to see out the result.
The longer it remains level will keep us in the match increase our chances to pinch a result.
it has the all makings of being a good match, even a 'cupset'. But thats only if AU takes there eyes off the prize, yes the ACL match is of far more importance. But like i said the other day, AU is one of the only a league clubs to always take the aus cup seriously, as realistically its a good chance of lifting a trophy. There is a bit of a mini surge of momentum at the moment. These sort of matches either entertain the neutrals or they get stuck in cagey spiteful play... Either way, provided the weather holds up, should be a good match.it has the all makings of being a good match, even a 'cupset'. i mean AU have won it 3 times, the most out of any club side since the cups inception 12 years ago and were unlucky to not win it a 4th time after losing in the final. They havent gone as far as they would've like in the last several years though.
If it makes you feel any better, AU have not been in imperious form during any friendlies so far this season, yes they've won all there pre season games so far - but they havent dominated for 90 mins. These sort of matches either entertain the neutrals or they get stuck in cagey spiteful play... Any rough idea if many are travelling down for this match? And I'm pretty sure the club can cater sushi for your players if need be hahaIf it makes you feel any better, AU have not been in imperious form during any friendlies so far this season, yes they've won all there pre season games so far - but they havent dominated for 90 mins.
Nothing unusual with that, because it is still preseason and the focus has been on getting the tactics right for the asian match
We are in a bit of a pickle at the moment, a bit of a crossroads as a club and an identity. There's a lot of shouting, a lot of bravado, a lot of promises made and a lot of distractions. A win on Thursday will reward the playing group AND the loyal fans but also paper over some of the ugliness I feel. Let the cards fall as the may, its NEVER dull being a Hellas fan.If it makes you feel any better, AU have not been in imperious form during any friendlies so far this season, yes they've won all there pre season games so far - but they havent dominated for 90 mins.
