10 years ago League 1 tactically was a joke.
However, after seeing Wrexham play Aus teams a few years ago, who were going up to the Champ, the tactical amelioration was phenomenal!
I’m delighted if players go to Champ clubs, which in Global Transfer Market is ranked 7th top league in the world, with a vastly improved playing style and tactics. So many Continental coaches are chasing English cash.
Thanks for pointing out Souttar and Burgess playing there.
Do you, and others reading this, Q, think that Souttar, who has played so well in international football, should be playing higher league club football? I’ve just read he is going down to L1.
Scotland overlooked Souttar. Now he captains a Roo team, with more international pedigree than Scotland, particularly playing in scenarios away from home.
I would have thought Souttar should be in Eredivisie, Belgium, Swiss league, MLS, Japan - if not the English Champ. He could even play in the French top flight.
Which other players outside Souttar and Burgess have progressed to Roo selection after playing L1? Outside Luongo and Wilkshire?
Alex Robertson has been playing L1. I have identified a high level of skill on the ball, with exquisite body shape and technique on the ball in Robbo’s game. He has had Roo caps. I hope he progresses to a better league than L1.
