The Melbourne Victory Thread

Mitch Langerak is now keeper coach for Melbourne Victory's A-League Men side heading into season 2026-27, moving from their VPL1 team where he held the same role as a replacement for Davide Del Giovine who leaves the club to pursue an overseas opportunity.

Been out the loop. Anyone have insights on the new signings?

I think in terms of squad depth, we have most positions covered, including backups.

But is the squad good enough to compete for the league? Probably too early to say.

I would suggest Gio will wanna take a good look at the squad at training for a few weeks before assessing what else we need.

We are also still waiting on what Mata and Nish are doing.

We do have 1 visa spot left, which we are keeping open for Mata.

As for Nish, there are rumours Diles wants to sign him at him at his new Vietnamese club. I hope that isn’t true... Nish needs to be a little more ambitious, I would suggest.

He still has another year on his contract.
There is still a bit under a month left in the transfer window, so there is always possibility he gets picked up up overseas, but if nothing happens before Sep 15 he'll be in the squad.

I really don’t think he’s good enough for more than A-Liga or the Vietnamese league.
