Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

Not entirely fair mate.. Football is the guys job, if he is asked by the coach to play he plays, its how he puts food on the table.

How he acts on the pitch is a different story altogether, you would hope for a bit of respect for us at least? I remember when Marcus went to Preston last year and copped some ribbing, He took it with a smile and I get the feeling that if he had scored, he would have been respectful
Harsh, perhaps yes, perhaps not enough, we will see.... lets just hope we dont have to revisit his 'professionalism' after the game on Saturday!

Lets hope that the new players have had a good week of training. Juach and Retre will need a few more matches before they can gel with the rest of the team, but lets hope they can contribute to a win.

Given what is at stake and the need for the 3 points, Sinisa may have to start Juach. I don't envisage the starting XI to change too much, and will likely look as follows:

Charlston
Lampard
Ramazani
Jankovic
Painter-Andrews
Pasquali
Giannakopoulos
Yoo
Uchida
Mikkola
Juach

Bench - Van Riet (goalkeeper), Retre, Cocks, Swibel, Nkomo,

Menealou has been injured of late, so not sure what his current status is. Skapoulas has also been carrying an injury as well. No point putting other players on the bench unless they are from the U23s side that have shown real promise.

Looks like a good line up but knowing our luck Nepo gets a place on bench still

On paper our attacking front 4 should be able to take care of business, complimented with Cocks and Swibel on the bench

For a match against Preston, you need 11 competent players on the field. Against the best opposition, you cannot carry players.
Your line-up IS a competent XI. If we can get Eliopoulos and or Lopez on the bench at least, even better.

Preston will definitely test out Charlston. If he stands up strong, we have a fighting chance to win.

Also, big question remains whether Preston will rest any players for their match against Newcastle Jets on Tuesday night. I highly doubt the same Preston XI will play 180 minutes within 3 days. They may opt to rest Bonada against Hellas as part of that unwritten gentleman's agreement. We will know at Saturday 3.15pm.
