FIFA WC 26 - Other Nations LIVE Match Thread ⚽

What a game! Huge comeback from Argentina! Fair play to Egypt, they did well but choked a shocking lead.
Argentina came back from two goals down to get the job done 3-2 over Egypt and secure progression to the quarterfinals, where they'll face the winner of Switzerland's round of 16 game against Colombia.

Switzerland got the job done 4-3 on penalties over Colombia after Ruben Vargas converted his penalty following a scoreless draw after extra time in their World Cup round of 16 game to secure progression to the quarterfinals, where they'll face reigning champions Argentina.

Have to say I really admire the Swiss. They're one of those European nations that consistently churn out solid players, despite the constraints they have compared to the superpower nations.

Another country Australia should be drawing inspiration from. Lot's of lessons to be learnt from that country.
Reckon the Nati could beat the Albiceleste?

I'm all for humour and if it was genuinely intended that way, then fine

But you can't blame me for my response based on your post history. I mean, only one player in the french team is born outside of France.

What is my post history champ?

needs more diversity.

Not to be THAT guy, but it’s three:
  • Michael Olise: born and raised in London, England, just a glory hunter who knows about the English trophy curse
  • Brice Samba: born in Linzolo, Congo, but migrated to France at a young age
  • Marcus Thuram: born in Parma, Italy, moved to France; his dad played for Parma so that’s why he was born there
You could also count Mike Maignan, who was born in Cayenne, French Guiana (but grew up in Paris). However, French Guiana is legally part of France (in fact it’s a department so unlike, say, New Caledonia, it’s got the same status as Metro departments). Furthermore, for some reason French Guiana still isn’t a FIFA member (but is a full member of CONCACAF).

Thoughts?

Look at it with the full context. There were two contacts. The first was when the ball was actually won. The second was the photo in that post. I look at it from the context of whether it would have been a pen on review. It would have been close but I'm not sure.

Honestly, I was watching and 10 minutes in thought, we (Argentina) are going to lose this. Nobody looked right including Messi. Fernandez was continually losing the ball, De Paul's passing was atrocious. I think they were pretty much all gassed from the Cabo Verde match.

Still, that has to be one of the most insane turn-arounds I have seen at a WC.
