Was very impressed with Spain's first half against Uruguay, then they succumbed to U's niggle in the second half.

Spain's 1 and 2 touch passing and moving was exquisite.

U backed off in Squeezing intensity, which helped Spain's ball circulation.

Haven't had a long look at Argentina yet.

Mexico and USA are performing well in front of home crowds, but France look the best thus far. Spain have also looked good.

England may yet prevail, but it will be interesting to see how they go in front of the big Mexican parochial home crowd?

I wonder if a few UEFA players had sufficient rest before this WC?

In principle, perhaps :LOL: and not according to my wife.

Notwithstanding personal bias, I'm just not seeing how France and Spain are being consistently picked as favourites without being mentioned in the same breath as Argentina. I think all three will rightly think they have a hand on the Jules Rimet but the case for Argentina is -

a. Compared to the opening stages of Qatar, they look almost casual and carefree. Not cocky but confident and playing within themselves.
b. Either by miracle of medicine or further improvements to the set-up around him, Messi looks better than he did in Qatar at this stage.
c. Argentina can win in the most hostile environments including a Copa America final against Brazil in the Maracana.
d. The US seems to sit with them very comfortably - it is almost a home away from home.

No - I'm more leaning towards precedent. I would likely give it red, in isolation. But given the way things have been handled, I didn't expect a red. Basically in line with below

If thats a red we should have seen a further 5-6 reds through out the tournament including Messi. Yet that was the 1st red since the opening day of the world cup i think. Completely inconsistent
