Socceroos vs Paraguay 2026 World Cup match thread 🇦🇺🇵🇾

We're normally not in this situation where a draw with suffice and the opponent would be alright with it too.

This match is a mix of hope, expectation and fear when most world cups the last game is with some hope we can win to advance.

I was talking about Paraguay's chances. If we finish on 4 we come second and go through. If we lose then our chances of qualifying as a best 3rd are very small.
 
Happy to see some more attacking football basically. I think this team has it in them to win it, just hope we are positive playing forward. This team has multiple players who can hit a scorcher, but also hope poppa has given them the tactical nouse to unpick Paraguay. Go Socceroos!

I don’t think we make it if we lose by any score. 3 points and a negative goal difference is extremely unlikely to be enough. Ecuador beating Germany and Sweden drawing really screwed us.

I think the sheer competitiveness at this level, that will be pretty heavy importance.
Okon and Ale were shrugging it off like it didn't matter. But it will probably be a major issue

Croatia and South Korea have a -1 for and against and are in the middle of the eight but Croatia have a game in hand though.
 
That Harry yellow was not a yellow. Dude leaps up and puts Harry in a headlock, Harry just stands up and gives him a bit of a cuddle to remind him that he's three metres tall

I have an abnormal feeling that we're actually in an alright situation but if we go behind it starts to get very scary.

A draw for the Socceroos will be enough for us to advance to the round of 32 but if we lose narrowly we still have a chance of making the eight, bearing in mind that Croatia and Algeria have a game in hand.

Ok so if we lose 1-0, we’d be ahead of Scotland and dead even with South Korea. Not sure what the tie breaker would be in that scenario. Probably yellow cards. Does anyone know how we compare on that front?

I’m expecting Croatia to get at least a point against Ghana. Then Iran probably draws against Egypt and goes ahead of us on GD. I just can’t us going through with a loss. We really needed Ecuador to not win at least.
