2026 Australia Cup final rounds thread

Well, get off your collective arses and attend the match and show all of Australia, that you really are a massive club. Nothing less than 7,000 will suffice. IMHO.

Think its very difficult to get a crowd like that on a Tuesday or Wednesday night. We should be pushing for at least 5k. We almost had 4k against Auckland last yr but Adelaide is a much bigger draw and we have a history with them (all be it short)

Probably short a a CB or two (depends whether Sainsbury is back) and probably a LW. The rest are reasonable but they have lost around 12 players and none incoming have been announced yet. With the current squad Sydney United would be favourites but hopefully a few waiting to be announced.

if you think Sydney United are favourites coming into this game, then that's not saying much about the current state of CCM.

i'm assuming they'd bring up some of the academy players for this match?

Real mixed draw for the 3 south Australian representatives:

Whilst Cumberland is at home, I would expect the bergers to put them to the sword quite easily by 2-3 goals. Bergers have a great coach and squad, Cumberland do not.

I haven’t been to lakeside in almost half a decade, even though I’m a regular visitor to Melbourne, so im looking forward to stepping foot in that venue again.

South Melbourne vs Adelaide United has banana skin written all over it, if AU don’t take it seriously

Same goes for my juniors club FK Beograd vs North Sunshine Eagles, even though they’re at home they cannot let the fact they’re playing an Albanian club get to them (and I don’t mean the fans, because they wont allow travelling fans) I’m talking emotionally as Serbian football teams at all levels of the sport tend to lose there heads when they play Albanian sides

I would expect a big police presence at this match; Beograd have too much firepower to not get through this tie – but only if they can take the emotion out of the match

Last time they met, 2003-04 NSL Semi Final!!
South Melbourne's final match in the national league! Geez, there might be a mix of emotions with this one.

What a squad that AU side had!! AU have seriously underachieved in the a league with the teams and players that have produced over the years.

Multiple players from that souths team, represented Adelaide in some shape or form as well (Euge, ante, tunbridge, sarkies)

Well no owner announced yet and no coach so in dire straits. They so have some decent academy players

CCM's academy has always produced well trained young players for years as we know - one of their good attributes.
I'm sure they will turn up with a competitive squad.

are A-League clubs back at training?
Brisbane Roar are meant to officially start 1 July from the little I can find.

Doesn't give much time to form bonds and cohesion - especially as we have gone through a lot of player changes involving most of our best players leaving.

To some extent we are lucky that Sydney Olympic are doing poorly this season - but there is still so much advantage in being season forged and match fit.

cant speak for other clubs, but the majority of AU's squad will start pre season in the first week of july, in preparation for the asian champions league playoff match. The players have individual tailored plans in the off season though

Yeh even Adelaide Greeks will 100% be supporting United. I think when we play teams from the other states the Greeks get behind us. No city has done a better job than Adelaide when it comes to selling the A league as the way forward.
Don't know about that I know of 2 lads that even came to Auckland to watch us play from Adelaide... Expecting an Adelaide Hellas banner at Lakeside for this one.

If the weather holds it may come close... Plenty of history towards Adelaide here... Only Melb Victory would have drawn a bigger response.
