World Cup 2026 Australia thread

Belgium not being able to beat Iran could be problematic for us. If Egypt beat NZ, Belgium are likely to finish second. We need NZ to at least get a draw against Egypt.

Although a NZ win would be even better. A NZ win against Egypt but a loss to Belgium in the final game means they will finish second if Iran fails to beat Egypt in the last game.

Thread 'The annual NicCarBel TOURNAMENT PERMUTATIONS POST'

I'm gonna pop in threads as needed because more eyeballs - but it's time to begin what is (probably) my annual PERMUTATIONS POST

Given the large amount of third placed teams that can make it - I will be doing this the old way (at first) in only seeking out who needs to do what to finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their group. It won't be until the final matchdays begin looking at which 3rd places can make it altogether.

I will be adding each group slowly as I sit down and look at groups, etc etc

Group A
  • Mexico is confirmed top of the group
  • South Korea will seal...

A few different things at play SHOULD Australia draw with or beat Paraguay:

If Egypt beat Iran and Belgium beat NZ, we'd play Belgium.

If Iran win and Belgium win, we'd likely play Iran providing Belgium win by more than what Iran by. Belgium would top the group, Iran 2nd.

If Iran-Egypt draw, we'd play the winner of NZ or Belgium. If that's a draw too, we'd likely play Iran unless the NZ-Belgium results in a score which is more goals scored for Belgium.

I'd say Belgium is most likely should we finish 2nd, all things considered.

For sure if you're the players and staff. If you're thinking about playing Belgium, Germany, Iran as a player or coach then you're a boofhead and way ahead of yourself.

As fans, what we say on a forum or think, is completely meaningless and unimportant. But it's fun to speculate.
 


They just won't admit they didn't impose themselves and it wasn't good enough.

in their position I wouldn't admit as well - you can't considering the players mental health today :)

4 on yellow, Bos/Italiano/Souttar/Circati - I'm not loling when I think those Paraguayans are going to put it on our 2 CB's like mad.

If only it was Burgess instead of one of Circati/Souttar on a yellow - straight swap for him would have been good to manage that

But if they get a yellow they miss next game not the Paraguay match?
