Best result for us is a 1-0 PAR win - that would mean we are guaranteed at least 3rd place in the group (if we lose to PAR) or 2nd place on goal difference if we draw with Paraguay (AUS GD 0; PAR GD -2). I can easy see Turkey getting 3 points off an already qualified USA, like Tunisia did to France in our group in 2022. Assuming that happens in the last group game, then we'd have:
If AUS d. PAR -
1. USA 6 (USA H to H)
2. AUS 6
3. PAR 3
4. TUR 3

If AUS draw PAR:
1. USA 6
2. AUS 4 GD 0
3. PAR 4 GD -2

It’s time to stop calling Turkey the dark horses at every tournament. They clearly don’t play well as a team despite their clear individual talents and they rely on Dutch and German diaspora to actually fill their team. Even Ayman Gülașı doesn’t wanna play for them anymore. They must be pretty bad internally if a guy openly says he wants to come BACK to the Young Socceroos.

Another thing to note is the Süper Lig just isn’t that “super” anymore. Sure they’ve got Beşiktaş, Fener and Gala, but the rest of the league sucks and I just don’t think it’s a big league anymore. People say the Eredivisie fell off but its falloff was nowhere near that of the Süper Lig’s. Victor Osimhen’s wasting his time at Galatasaray.
