I mean.. we aren't through to the next stage in that instance, but we'd be guaranteed 3rd in the group at least

Yeah I'd probably go with this except I'd start with O'Neill rather than Okon-E. Metcalfe can cover the left channel when Bos goes forward and O'Neill the right channel when Italiano goes forward. I was hoping for Bos to be a bigger threat in this tournament so far. That could be down to a few things - tactics, defensive workload or simply underperforming. Hopefully Toure is fit for Paraguay.

Yengi if Toure is unfit but this is what we should be promoting as our first choice XI moving forward.

This XI deserves a more rounded and tactically flexible manager unfortunately.

I’d hate to see us squander another golden generation like we did under Farina.
 
How do you fit Metcalfe, Volpato, Irankunda and Toure into 3 next game?

And to think we had two plodders starting in front of three of them today... 🙄

Popa said in his post-game presser that Toure wasn't injured and was subbed-off as a tactical decision.

We could fit them all in if we play a different formation or perhaps as others have mentioned, we play Metcalfe as one of the midfielders. We aren't going to change our formation; that is clear. We will probably stagger them.

You make them the front 3.

Centre mids - ideally one plays on the attack when needed (Metcalfe), with the other being more the holding/defensive mid.

Yes we will have much more of the ball this game. Creative players like Volpato and Hrustic should come into the reckoning, whilst down back we need quick defenders in Geria and Herrington to protect the counter. Id drop Burgess and Circati.

I see the thinking and considered that, but Okon has been the better of the 2 in both games and is particularly adept at playing through balls to our fast strikers in Mo and Nestor.
 
Popa screwed up not bringing Boyle, Goodwin and Robertson. Goodwin's delivery at the end of matches if we are chasing games would have been particularly handy.
