Ultimately Brisbane needs a new/upgraded circular stadium anyway in the next few years, which would be billions of dollars in itself (but most likely not as many billions as the Olympic stadium and other stuff needed). Without the Olympics, it’s possible that may have been the upgrade of the Gabba, but upgrading the Gabba specifically for the Olympics required the loss of a primary school, a public park (Raymond Park, incidentally the home ground of Kangaroo Point Rivers FC) and the resumption of a number of residential houses to build the athletics warmup track, which would have been a white elephant after the Olympics, so this was an unpalatable option as well.
Yes we can agree to disagree, but in my view a stadium at Victoria Park is the least worst option now that Brisbane has the Olympics in 2032.
For me, nobody needs a stadium.....unless of course it's purely for football
