FIFA 2026 WC - general

This is so New Zealand and such a great example of why the World Cup is about so much more than football ...
Sorry link didn't work, try this one

Am doing a play through for the lulz before I do my sim

Very clear to see how important H2H is - from the 5 placings I ended up having decided by H2H where otherwise the Goal Difference/Goals Scored would result in the other outcome.

Group A was thee biggest culprit for this (all games ended 1-0 except in brackets)

Mexico beat South Africa and Czechia
Czechia beat South Africa and South Korea
South Korea beat Mexico (2-0)
South Africa beat South Korea

Normally, this would result in a Czechia 1st, Mexico 2nd, South Korea 3rd, South Africa 4th - but due to the H2H it ended up Mexico 1st, Czechia 2nd, South Africa 3rd, South Korea 4th

AND
once again - 3pts and -2 goal difference seems to be the cut-off. Despite no 3rd placed teams getting 3pts and -2 GD in this playthrough, the teams on -1 GD advanced, and the teams on -3 or worse GD did not

289 players won't represent the country of their birth. Look at Morocco...

Okon was more a temporary resident and born there.

Waldemar Anton born in Uzbekistan and I always wondered if he'd switch had he not reached the heights. There was a time where I thought he was going to.

IShowSpeed — "World Cup (Champions)"

Number one trending song on YouTube at the moment and nearly at 10 million views. Unironically better than the official song.

Shakira and Burna Boy’s has 68 million views and is the number two trending song on YouTube.

How great for Haitians with essentially a home game in Miami. This makes their group more interesting after this impressive result but I think NZ can have a robust showing at the tournament. Egypt and Iran look alright from their practice games.

Algeria winning 1:0 in Rotterdam will certainly give them confidence going into the tournament. A dent for the Dutch.

I expect Algeria to beat Jordan while Austria and Argentina are going to be tough.
