The final game. Hopefully we'll be in a strong position if we finish 3rd and then it'll be a nervous wait. The third group games will be strategic for many. Second place would be just fine.

6 from 15 under Popovic - a Japanese own goal and 8 from open play
By my reckoning we have scored 20 goals in 14 matches since Poppa took over. This includes 5 against Indonesia and 3 in the away game to New Zealand. Shows what a dire return we have had in this period. Mind you, I didn't think Arnie's tenure was any better.

FUN FACT: The last two goals we have scored were both by Jordy Bos, 20 minutes in against USA and 85th minute against Cameroon. Between them were two goalless losses to Columbia and Venezuela.

whats our record scoring from set pieces fellas ? I don't recall we are that great at them.
I suspect Souttar is and current top scorer ?
I recall Irvine scores from loose balls.
Decent in the air

I guess bos and italiano can bang in any rebounds and u are relying on souttar and irvine for the header

Ahead of the final day simulation:

Will share YouTube link for Australia v Paraguay sim when I get to it (Turkey v USA comes first on it, but I will add the result too)

Wow so with these sim results - Australia advance in second due to head to head of beating Turkey. However, are tied on goal difference, goals scored, etc etc, so would have gone down to disciplinary history under the usual tie-breakers. If that was tied as well, Turkey would get the runner up spot due to being ranked higher on the FIFA rankings

Le Bris was forced into his first change after just 20 minutes when Omar Alderete went off injured. Luke O'Nien took his place and enjoyed what was probably his best performance of the season so far.

"Omar got a small injury during the week," Le Bris explained.

"He was confident he could manage the game but in a sprint he felt it a little bit so we decided to avoid something major and we'll see how he is tomorrow.

Not that I want to hope for injuries Paraguayan Sunderland defender got injured

God I was reading that Luke O'Nien was in Paraguay's squad for a second. Their defence is very experienced.
