The Australian Championship 🇦🇺🏆

Football in this country has always been 1 step forward, 5 steps back.

i've lost faith a long time ago, Soccer Australia, Football Australia, it's the same shit.

Just support your club no matter what league or competition they are in.
I agree with supporting your club whatever league they are in but we shouldn't accept this system. We must push to get a proper pyramid.

Yeah I would support that if they wanna give us no other choice.
Again, not perfect but would in essence be a defacto second tier anyway. Plus atleast the bulk of the league would be clubs with some kind of a stadium and support. Would flip the balance v current npl where the opposite is the case

Problem is that it too will stagnate after a few seasons... We've already faced Marconi once and already South fans are itching for Sydney Croatia and Adelaide City or even Brisbane Strikers again.... We hadnt played Preston for 10 years and now, after facing them 4 times its like just another match.... we NEED pro/rel, we need it urgently in this country, not for just my team and yours but for theFootbalLover and the Sharks, and the Rockdale guys, and shit even the annoying ones from Oakleigh... we ALL need to be invested in this.

Again, not perfect, but would be a starting point and would atleast condense the big clubs under one banner. As someone who’s happy to attend npl games year in year out, would atleast be an improvement on that

Weve called for this a while now... question is how the hell FV & FNSW would get in the same page to pressure the rest mainly the FA into compromise.... i dont even see them throwing us a bone soon let alone any meat...

I think they will kill championship off slowly and then claim it failed bc of lack of interest... interest that will have dicipated bc they have instead of marketing the product, deflated it and choked it to death through their silence and inaction..

Cant say the vast majority of us didnt mention all this back when they turned this into a CL format, the omens evident from then... now its wait and see the APL/AL cohorts take another (perhaps even final) swing at us in the name of 'the good of the game'.

The clubs through the aafc could potentially be an avenue.

Yeah motivation to pick at the carcas of FA of any last dollars and cents....
Mate nobody hates them more than me but they've put millions of dollars into a gamble and will do anything to make their money back. What do they care about the sport, most of the owners dont even watch the matches or even know the rules.

Do you think they are like us sad losers so rusted on to our teams an sport that we spend all day worrying about it? If the APL fails they will try and re-coop as much of their investment as they can and try again with, maybe netball, or table tennis or something...

Agree fully... we made the same point..

if you could get the foundation clubs plus maybe 2 more would that be an acceptable starting point in people’s opinions, 10 clubs? Remembering the a league started with 8. What would the minimum number of teams be for a home and away league to kick off. Not the fa’s random arbitrary number and geographic distribution, but a genuine realistic minimum starting point

12 absolute bare bones minimum for me... 22 rounds plus finals, any less and its a farce.
