Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

This is an extraordinary achievement particularly given that our team is the only team not funded by FIFA to play in this league.
That is correct. It is in the OFC Professional League Competition Regulations that non-Oceania member teams must self-fund their costs. The Club has done brilliantly well this year in securing $500K in government funding ($400K from Federal Government and $100K from Victorian Government). That $500K covers the costs of participating in the competition. As such, the venture into Oceania would be close to if not fully cost neutral.

Lets not forget that there are are hundreds of thousands of dollars on offer if we win on Sunday.

If we are smart and fiscally prudent, we will be financially very strong compared to the other NPL Victoria clubs.

If we lost, it would be a massive foregone opportunity to add to the silverware. It would definitely hurt given the intense focus over the last month.

But even if we lost the grand final, we'd walk away with 15% of the total prize money, that could be anything from $100K-$200K USD, which is $140K-$280K AUD. The cash will soften the blows on the losses to CS George Cross and others.

Further to this point.

If the total OFC Pro League prize money is $1 million USD, a Hellas win on Sunday would see us earning 25% of that total prize money. That is $250K USD which equates to $352K AUD. That is the equivalent of winning 14 NPL Victoria championships or 3 Australian Championship titles!

There is so much on the line on Sunday. Win and we collect our 3rd trophy in less than 12 months, collect hundreds of thousands that will set us up financially, and create a strong momentum towards winning our first NPL Victoria championship in 10 years !

"fiscally prudent" is NOT in my (or I suspect many Hellas fans) wheelhouse... :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Well done South for making juggling all these fixtures and making the Grand Final, but why is the prize money still unknown?

He is 30 which is perfect npl age in terms of performance and not being poached. I suspect he returns to Greece but if he doesnt i'd say Oakleigh with Diles.
They’ll sack Taylor?! The last club to do that went into rapid decline!

The support from some of these Vanuatu fans is absolutely nuts. Im willing to bet that a decent number of them are going to come out to support us on Sunday... read the comments... lol
