FIFA 2026 WC - general

Some WILD omissions. No Phil Foden, no Harry Maguire, no Cole Palmer, no TAA, etc. Yet guys like Jordan Henderson and Ivan Toney get picked lol. It’s not coming home, Three Lions fans.

Jarrod Bowen needs to get out of West Ham, regardless of if they stay up or not.
Henderson and Toney are the coaches lame excuse picks for experience and role but mediocrity is being rewarded there. No doubt some omissions are good players but some have been so shit and lazy for England for a while and are rightly out. Stones and Guehi are two others fortunate to be in.

Some newer, younger players are likely to shine.

Good to see the deadwood and entitled slackers out but some are still there.
To be honest I don't see that England playing list making it far into the World Cup and they'll be lucky to get results throughout their campaign especially with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Cole Palmer omitted from the 26-player squad, along with the fact that Ivan Toney who hasn't played for England for a year despite scoring a goal a game in Saudi Arabia and winning back-to-back AFC Champions League Elite titles is included instead of a more promising striker.

Playing in the SPL shouldn’t be good enough for England. It’s worse than the Championship overall and many teams would struggle in League One. Without the money it would be League One level.

TAA is part of the problem for England. Squad peg. If he's on the pitch he's so lazy and just a short passer. I can't remember the last time he sprinted.

With any luck Toney will get injured before and they can bring another in.

I've seen some posts and I think it's on to something. Formations aside, Spain have midfield depth whereas other countries have chosen 5-6. Spain have a few more.

Alex Scott, Rio Ngumoha and Josh King will be training with the England squad to manage the load. Of course if an injury happens you wouldn't think any of them would immediately slot in.

getting excited - just downloaded a kit update for my game that I'm using to simulate. Squads are coming together nicely. Stadium downloads too (now only missing Toronto, Kansas, Houston and Guadalajara stadiums - replaced by Chicago - or Vancouver for Canada games - Kansas MLS, Austin MLS, Tigres MX)

This is a nice idea, Football SA are hosting their own mini youth World Cup tournament for the school holidays. Create your own team with friends then get drawn a random country from the cup. Take Curacao all the way haha!

Wagga do something like this as a pre season /off season thing - I’m not sure if it’s every year or just World Cup years

I thought Jens Castrop at Gladbach was of Filipino heritage but he's made the South Korean squad.

Can anyone name any player who ever made the Korean team without having a Korean name? Maybe some Brazilians long ago?

For Brazilians do you mean non-Portuguese surnames? Álisson Becker would be one.
