Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

Not the best of starts by South, but that first goal settled the nerves and gave the team some confidence. We looked a bit slow and untidy with the ball. Yet, we should have been up 5-0 at halftime with the number of scoring opportunities we missed. Second half was more of a training run. Focused on getting that fourth goal and managed the result after that.

Good to see Sinisa makes substitutions early in the second half. Players now have a 3 full days to rest and recover. Coaching staff will hang around for the second semi final to watch both teams.

I think we should see more on Sunday at the Grand Final. You'd hope that we should get another 30 Hellas supporters flying in and crate some good atmosphere.
3 of us just booked flights and accom... I understand another group we know are going....

Auckland win 1-0. Hard to get a read on it, south island sat very deep, Auckland had all the ball but didnt create a heap of chances. They are a better possesion based team but we have more avenues to goal. Could go either way.

Good luck to the club for this Sunday.

I have decided not to fly to Auckland.

I am still burning from 'throwing' the game against, of all clubs, Oakleigh!

I could take fielding under strength line ups for all the other matches, but there was no reason we could not field a decent line up that day.

Sheer folly.

Only a win this Sunday will bring my mood back to an even keel.

Looking forward to Sunday's OFC Pro League Grand Final. Its not every day you get to play in a grand final.

Hoping there's a few thousand in attendance. Still think the match should have been played at Go Media Stadium (Mt Smart Stadium) given it's half the size of Eden Park.

Interesting to see which Auckland players feature in the A League Grand Final the day before the OFC Pro League Grand Final..

Im in the same camp as son of sam, i will forgive everything if we win on Sunday. If we dont come home with the trophy im going to be bitter for a long time. We would have to win like 10 games straight in the npl or make the australia cup final to undo it. Just win!

Can you imagine how bad Monday night will be against Avondale if we dont win the ofc?

Also fuck the whole pro Auckland thing, these pricks dont give a fuck. Imagine if the grand final was at lakeside on Sunday, 5k+ easily.

If we lost, it would be a massive foregone opportunity to add to the silverware. It would definitely hurt given the intense focus over the last month.

But even if we lost the grand final, we'd walk away with 15% of the total prize money, that could be anything from $100K-$200K USD, which is $140K-$280K AUD. The cash will soften the blows on the losses to CS George Cross and others.

Thank Christ you are so "positive" I was beginning to worry it was pointless to even go to this match.....

Is this true?

This is an extraordinary achievement particularly given that our team is the only team not funded by FIFA to play in this league.

What about this claim?
“Many millions have watched the OFC matches to date and we expect the television coverage for the Sunday Final to be enormous.”
