Why silly? If you are 100% certain we are going to get smashed 20 nil because Heidelberg is some sort of attacking giant compared to Oakleigh despite being mostly toothless this year.. Have they scored more than once apart from the Georgies game?.

If its such a throw way result, why bother at all? Just dont turn up, forfeit and that way minimise the damage.

Personally, I am hoping for the rumoured 3-4 players not lining up for South Island tomorrow to be returning and on the bench at least. Even if not I have enough faith in our U23s to keep a mainly side to side Bergers attack out of shooting range. If we lose, I agree we may lose big, but I think tonight's match is going to be a lot closer than you think... One of us is wrong... Im as pissed off as you a re about WHY we are having to play a 3rd string team tonight but Im still hopeful... Maybe dillusional, I guess we will find out in a few hours.

Despite the scoreline, the vibe in our corner was epic, sook sozer copped it as warranted at every touch and we were louder than the villagers by far... .. boys had a good second half. ..

ps. The fuel crisis has hit the village hard and the souvs this season went up suddenly while simultaneously getting smaller by 1/3... atleast salad must be cheap bc they packed it in instead of the mixed meat.... next time im bringing it across from norfies and not dropping a dime!
 
It went as well as it could possibly go under the circumstances, keeper did really well.

Its just a shame we wont score for the rest of this month. You'd like to think some of the 22 players in Auckland will come back for the george cross game. The club really needs to think of the supporters with the next one being at home, i get none of our starting 11 can return but we need 5 proper seniors players to balance this out.

I count atleast 6 that should be here and available for these games... even they wouldnt have made a difference tonight but there is surely a lot more benefit in them playong here than just being there for sake of it...

Tonight no difference i agree, but we would have half a sniff against George Cross.

Its just a simple reality that no pure reserves team would ever beat a seniors npl team.

Sometimes all it takes is the favourite team to just have an off night/underestimate the underdog.

The situation isn't ideal but sometimes you just have to make the best of a shitty situation.

I watched parts of the game, thought the kids were okay all things being considered. Atleast they get a taste and see what is required to make it to the top. Some will rise, some will fold, it is what it is.

I think after Tuesday if we have made the semis surely we dont need to keep everyone around in Auckland. I get the starting 11 arent returning but the bulk that played the Bulleen game could come back. Just not sure how keen the club is to fly players back and forth. It really does seem they are all gone until the ofc ends.

Im struggling to accept that we need all those players there.
 
If you offered me 4-0 before kick off, I would have taken it. The good thing is that Heidelberg didn’t record a historic winning scoreline against us. We minimised the damage to our goal difference by only conceding 1 goal in the second half.

Van Riet made some superb saves and literally kept the scoreline somewhat respectable. The kids did great as could be expected. They ran, challenged for the ball and threw their bodies on the line to prove themselves. The future is bright in the talent that is coming through.

I think the fact that many fans knew our kids would be playing probably led to many staying at home and watching the match on YouTube.

It’s pretty obvious to everyone that a U23s team is not competitive against senior NPL teams. Kids have received great experience, but we need 4-5 senior men’s players to help them on the park. Surely we can see Coveny, Lackay, O’Sullivan, and Inglese head back for the George Cross match.
