Rivalry Watch

Japan ran out 1-0 winners over England at Wembley, inflicting their first loss ever against Asian opposition and first loss at the venue under Thomas Tuchel. Kaoru Mitoma scoring the only goal of the game in the 23rd minute.
Japan are cooking European sides. Goes to show that they are a top footballing nation in both the men’s and women’s game.

Italy have now failed to qualify for the past three World Cups after their loss on penalties to Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed that they miss out again this cycle.

Q. What do you call an Italian watching the WC?
A. A neutral

Q. How do you make an Italian miss a penalty?
A. Make him take one

“Football is a simple game, 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, Italy doesn’t qualify.” (S.Hill, probably).

What do you call an Italian playing at the World Cup?

An Aussie!

Kiwis have named their squad:

Goalkeepers: Max Crocombe (Millwall), Alex Paulsen (Lechia Gdansk), Michael Woud (Auckland FC)
Defenders: Tyler Bindon (Nottingham Forest), Michael Boxall (Minnesota United), Liberato Cacace (Wrexham), Francis de Vries (Auckland FC), Callan Elliot (Auckland FC), Tim Payne (Wellington Phoenix), Nando Pijnaker (Auckland FC), Tommy Smith (Braintree Town), Finn Surman (Portland Timbers)
Midfielders: Lachlan Bayliss (Newcastle Jets), Joe Bell (Viking FK), Matt Garbett (Peterborough United), Ben Old (Saint-Etienne), Alex Rufer (Wellington Phoenix), Sarpreet Singh (Wellington Phoenix), Marko Stamenic (Swansea City), Ryan Thomas (PEC Zwolle)
Forwards: Kosta Barbarouses (Western Sydney Wanderers), Eli Just (Motherwell), Callum McCowatt (Silkeborg), Jesse Randall (Auckland FC), Ben Waine (Port Vale), Chris Wood (Nottingham Forest)

I won't profess to be an expert on the All Whites, but the inclusion of 36 year old Tommy Smith, who plays for relegated English 5th division Braintree Town seems an odd one. They have left out a 25 year old George Stanger who plays week in week out for Kilmarnock in the SPL.

Ireland best Grenada 5:0 in Spain in the most random of practice games. Love the EFL and SPL mish mash select. Need more A League and random Roos in ASEAN competitions.
Portugal and Spain seem to be a popular destinations for Northern European clubs/teams’ training camps because the weather is nicer and they seem to consider Iberia as a warm coastal paradise. In reality it’s nice in summer but it’s quite comparable to Adelaide or Melbourne. The Canary Islands and Cape Verde are warmer.

Im glad the reaction here is more mature compared to Twitter and reddit they just want to blame the kid.

Not sure what kind of people that would go these apps are clearly are not capable of thinking rationally lol.

Anyone from a mile away can see they dropped the ball on capping the kid, but fair play to Croatia they clearly take their duel nationals more seriously than us and this is a country that has made a World Cup final and semi final in the last two World Cup as well…
