ALM/W TV deal

Channel 9/Stan??

It certainly makes sense because I reckon Nine Entertainment wants more football content, and the A-League needs more exposure. Nine could promote the league better, show more games on free TV, and attract new fans.

At the same time, having local matches alongside overseas football on Stan Sport keeps viewers engaged more. It’s a good fit: Nine grows its general football coverage, and the A-League becomes a bit more visible, relevant, and easier for Aussie Premier League fans to follow...

Maybe im clutching at straws but it sounds plausible?

Had to laugh, a young bloke is getting his debut at the last placed club in the NRL. It's been on every news on TV, it's plastered all over the papers, who knows what else. I wonder what would happen if a young bloke got his debut at WSW. Crickets......

Sounds good for fans but I’m guessing that the APL will go for the highest offer.

Its really shit that way isn't it?

Well NBL just went to Nine - I don't see a-league going there now for at least a couple of years
yes - but only some marquee games will be on 9 - most will be on other fta channels The a league could do similar with marque games on 9 and others on Gem or Life or Rush or Go.

I don't see this happening but it would really push 9 as the sports channel to go to on Saturdays - especially with the EPL on Stan

I am baffled by the marketing decisions. I mean everytime someone debuts have a commentator interview their parents in the crowd during the game about how proud they are of their boy. Cut to them during pauses like corners or injuries and have their vocals only in a 2 minute interview over the action.

It isnt rocket science

Three more years. One men's FTA match a week.

The new partnership also encompasses an increased annual rights fee, a joint commitment to increase marketing and promotion initiatives, and expand the accessibility of A-Leagues’ content in pubs and clubs.

I want to see them put more effort into the presentation.

Right now a league doesn't seem like a big deal on the Paramount app

Then they need to spice up the midweek shows it's to safe and boring. Bring back the docos or get some excitement not just the same people talking

Geez the unhinged anger on the socials is something else, and 90% don't even follow A-League! It's just people with no idea who like to shit on easy targets. Stan waaaa, Optus waaaa, Foxtel waaaa... well did anyone else actually bid??

I've said previously that we should reduce to one match pw on FTA because we don't have enough big matches to advertise (a second FTA can do more harm than good). And the rights are increasing. It sounds like good news to me. 3 years allows the league to first see where the national teams end up on their next deal, then decide the next move.
