Listen if we can just speed this all up. Obviously everyone's crowds are dropping but Adelaide. It can't just be the stadium they must be doing something that's working

Adelaide seem to have a decent core that show up (on Friday nights anyway). So whenever they’re in good form it doesn’t take much to bump the core up. The need for purpose built stadiums this size has been talked about ad nauseam so we won’t go on about that. 14k at coopers even compared to 14k at MacJ have completely different feels to them.

But can we think a bit deeper?

While it's true Adelaide have a beautiful stadium that's easy to get to. There's clearly something they are doing right not to lose people but actually gain people when interest in a league is so low.

Somebody needs to interview the Adelaide suits or even if an Adelaide fan can give their two cents. Would love to hear what's happening

Stadium, time slot that works, lots of local products in the squad, the club has a proper identity, young kids see a pathway and aspire to play for the club. We seem to have a bigger rusted in core than other clubs. Even we struggle, the attendances don’t drop off anywhere near as much as they do at other clubs.

It’s not all rosy however, we haven’t won an AL title in 10 years or any silverware since 2019. There is also a perception by some that the club doesn’t really care about winning silverware and cares more about selling players.

A fan survey named Friday nights as the most popular time for games.

Stadium is centrally located, and can be easily reached from both northern and southern suburbs.

Hindmarsh Stadium has a very long connection with SA soccer, dating back to 1960, when the SASF first leased it from Hindmarsh Council and developed it. (and the game was played there even before WWII when it was known as Hindmarsh Oval.)

The fans don't seem affected by the owners' "selling club" policy. Perhaps they are keen to see another title before the current crop of young players are inevitably sold.

Adelaide doesn't seem to be affected by supporters of local clubs who "hate the A League", and will never attend a match. (at least not to the same extent as Melbourne.) The Hindmarsh-Thebarton area was home to big concentration of Greek migrants in 1960, so attending matches at Hindmarsh became a habit. Maybe it still is for their descendants.

The admin HQ for SASF was based at the stadium- so all junior coaching organisations, referees training, players records etc were all based at Hindmarsh. Adelaide's entire soccer community regarded it as soccer central.
 
This looks like a top 5 lowest crowd for MV (outside Covid). Crazy because if they win this match they have a shot at top spot.

Is there less conflict with Crows and Port games perhaps?
