I know the ALW isn't professional yet, so our contracts aren't in a good place. But can Wanderers sign Younis on a long term deal? Women's transfer are only going up and I think Younis is good enough to attract a lot of demand. The Young Matildas have named their 23-player squad for the upcoming U20 Women's Asian Cup in Thailand!

CommBank Young Matildas reveal squad for AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026™
CommBank Young Matildas Head Coach Alex Epakis has confirmed the 23-playing squad that will travelfootballaustralia.com.au
They could but it’s Wanderers so they won’t. She’ll get bought by someone else in the ALW before potentially moving overseas. It’s a recurring issue at Wanderers: they can’t keep any talent and this is why they end up being so shit. Sienna Saveska went straight to Victory. Milly Cassar went straight to Sydney.I know the ALW isn't professional yet, so our contracts aren't in a good place. But can Wanderers sign Younis on a long term deal? The Young Matildas squad leaves for Thailand Friday so the vast majority of the playing list won't be getting any more game time at club level this season as they'll miss the last two matchdays of the Dub, except the Melbourne City contingent of Alexia Apostolakis, Danella Butrus and Shelby McMahon who have the bye this week. The squad is entirely made up of A-League Women players with two exceptions: Jasmine Black (who plays for the George Washington Revolutionaries (of George Washington University) in the NCAA Division I of American college women’s soccer) and Clara Hoarau (who plays for Fleury in the French Première Ligue). Interesting that Clara got picked, she’s a long way off the senior Matildas squad and one would think Réunion (her country of birth) would want her but Réunion actually aren’t a FIFA member and are only an associate member of CAF, so she would have to play for Australia or France unless Réunion joins FIFA.
Oh man, I was looking forward to seeing if she was any good. She wasn’t great at Perth and has barely played for Fleury but she did manage to get the move to Fleury so I wanted to see what the hype was about.![]()

Clara Hoarau has been ruled out of the under-20 Women's Asian Cup on opening day, a day out from the Young Matildas' group C opening match against Chinese Taipei due to injury. She'll be replaced in the 23-player squad by Sydney FC forward Caley Tallon-Henniker.
Caley Tallon-Henniker replacing Clara Hoarau now means that every player in the Young Matildas' 23-player list except goalkeeper Jasmine Black comes from the Dub.Oh man, I was looking forward to seeing if she was any good. Lovely to see Caley Tallon-Henniker picked though! Big fan of her and she can score some crackers!
I wonder how many will get moves overseas from this squad. Alexia Apostolakis maybe?Caley Tallon-Henniker replacing Clara Hoarau now means that every player in the Young Matildas' 23-player list except goalkeeper Jasmine Black comes from the Dub.
I think Alexia Apostolakis would have been a shout to eventually make the move overseas regardless but depending on how the Young Matildas run, I'd say the most likely out of the 23-player list to secure transfers abroad would be her and Shelby McMahon given that they'll possibly have won the AFC Women's Champions League with Melbourne City also in addition to making waves at the under-20 Women's Asian Cup.I wonder how many will get moves overseas from this squad. Looks like City’s run won’t be so easy though. I still think that they’ll win it but they simply weren’t good enough against Nasaf.I think Alexia Apostolakis would have been a shout to eventually make the move overseas regardless but depending on how the Young Matildas run, I'd say the most likely out of the 23-player list to secure transfers abroad would be her and Shelby McMahon given that they'll possibly have won the AFC Women's Champions League with Melbourne City also in addition to making waves at the under-20 Women's Asian Cup.
To be fair many of the Nasaf players were used to Australian conditions after playing with the Uzbekistan national team in the Women's Asian Cup and Melbourne City were without Holly McNamara for most of the second half, with defenders running riot round her during the first half also.Looks like City’s run won’t be so easy though.
