Well yeah he is Puerto Rican and I'm aware they speak Spanish there, but at an American if you address the crowd it should probably be in the most recognisable language of the country (global events are different, English is used there because globally there are thousands of languages spoken every day). Why does he have to speak English? They speak Spanish in Puerto Rico.
“English is not my first language. But that's okay, because it's not America's first language either.”
He’s the most popular artist in the world. He speaks in Spanish. Broaden your horizons.
He said nothing political. Was all positive. It was incredible.
I was absolutely fine with the Spanish singing and I thought it was a pretty good performance (I personally preferred Kendrick Lamar last year but I'm a rap fan so that's just my opinion). It’s also absolutely fine that he speaks Spanish as his first language. I also think it's great representation for Puerto Rico who I do wish were a US state though rather than a US territory as to give the three million Puerto Ricans truly equal voting rights (in Puerto Rico, the centre-right support statehood and the centre-left support independence, but Washington seems to want them to be a territory despite having a bigger population than Hawaii which is a state).
