Summer of Cricket thread

I think the whole rivalry with India is one-sided, they hate us more than we hate them.

I dislike them but I generally don't get into the whole rivalry at all.

It was something several years ago but playing them virtually every year has diluted it.
I've met a lot of Indian fans. I think they love us!

IMO they know a lot more about Aus cricket than Aussies know about Indian cricket. I think Indian fans like the fact that Aus is a tough Test cricket rival for world ascendancy. It could be a scenario in the imminent future, where Indian teams blow other teams away.

Just read an article where Mark Waugh is calling for Riley Meredith to play Test cricket.

From 5-6 Shield games this season RM has taken 30 wickets at 17 runs per pole for Tas. I think he has played a lot of games on a juicy Tassie Bellerive pitch, which skews his figures. He can bowl very, very fast, but when he does, he can lose control and can't sustain it for long periods, like Mitch Starc can.

I was very impressed by paceman Perry for Victoria in this season's Shield game at Bellerive. He has a lot more pace than the accurate O'Neill.

yes tend to agree re Indians outlook towards Oz cricket.
I travel alot, trains planes Ubers/taxis - weather the driver is Indian even Paki I strike up conversation talking cricket.
They luv it ofcourse - and admire our Teams/players for decades, deep respect actually but obviously they want to beat us every single game no diff to us feeling as such.
They do know more than the general Oz follower agree there also though it is their #1 sport..

Never listened to much of what he says. Like Hatcher, the Meredith figures reflect the bowler friendly pitches, yet despite that his career stats are still hovering round @30. Imho a fit and younger Lance Morris is a better choice if CA is looking at an express option in our future attack.

Vics win toss and bowling in the Shield Final in Bleak City on a grassy brown colored deck.

Am backing the Croweaters to out bat the hosts and for Jason Sangha to replicate his century from last yrs final. Still all this depends on conditions and the toss. Confidence will be with the Vics as the most consistent team this season.

Vics win toss on their home track which is a huge bonus and they will bowl first. Scotty Boland is the Croweaters biggest danger.

So far so good as the spiders openers Hunt and Harvey survive the first six overs. Looks to be a touch of lateral movement with good bounce and carry as well.

Nervy start by SA, no a shocker as now three down. Too few specialist bats for mine by selectors.

That's been Sam Konstas' problem.
Created by CA. They wet their pants and rushed him into Tests when he scored those dual shield hundreds. In short, they threw him to the lions, messing with his head. Agree an off season in England is what his mind needs.

I can understand CA's rationale.

They had been copping it from all angles for holding on its ageing stars and then threw a 19 year old rookie to the hungry lions in an attempt to.silence the criticism but it ended up backfiring on said person.

South Australia off to a shocker. 3/54

Openers Harvey & Hunt out for 9 & 5 respectively.

Sangha out for a 🦆

McSweeney & Carey attempt to steady the ship.

The Carey ton has improved the Croweaters' position.

True.

Bowler friendly pitches help a bowler's figures.

I probably see too many pace bowlers bowl effectively on a juicy Berrieve pitch, which can flatten out. The last Shield wicket of the season took much needed spin.

We have even had a formal meeting and talked to the CEO about the lack of spin at Bellerive. They mainly wanted to create a Tas wicket that other teams don't like.

However, if Tas bats on the first day it can all backfire.
