Summer of Cricket thread

Pretty much everything that ends up Privatised goes to poop barring the few exceptions.

yep - part of what has contributed the overkill of cricket for me - its like 24/7.

Agree again - still luv Test cricket (Ashs da best from our side of the fence) trouble is the younger gens want all this quick fix type of product today.
Hence BB etcetc.
I marvelled at the first step of OD Packer cricket - 50overs - obvioulsy was dam exciting/new and look at th eplayers brought in, icons legends of the game, the colour finally etc.
I used to be at the SCG watching frigging Viv Richards belt the be jesus out of us, his fielding skills.
Llyods heavy bat smoking.
Ambrose/Garner/Roberts etc
Seeing our Legends playing against them was epic stuff.
Last 20yrs its all gone too OTT and a show - not for me I don't watch any of it anymore.
Tests and the WC's thats it nowadays.
Now ya talking mate. Massive lite towers, incredible players, great atmosphere, huge crowds and what about those colored duds.

Agreed,

I've seen plenty of both of them and they're definitely Test potential.
Early in his career Sangha suffered from the pressure of expectation, mostly caused by brainless cricket scribes pumping his tyres after he tonned up for the Blues v the England touring side. While Hunts game went from Test potential to mush after his captaincy saga. He obviously was not equipped mentally to face both opening and being the team leader.

Both are SA's luck due to Cricket NSW's incompetence. Both of them are from NSW and should've been mainstays of the NSW top & middle orders.

Hopefully Haddin sorts that crap out.

Here here. There was also bench rookie quick Hunar Verma who waited three long yrs for a Blues debut. Those a*8ehole selectors sacked him without giving him one. The kid must have been shattered as it has taken him several yrs since to get back on his feet..

Totally agree!
I think the whole rivalry with India is one-sided, they hate us more than we hate them.

I dislike them but I generally don't get into the whole rivalry at all.

It was something several years ago but playing them virtually every year has diluted it.

Sensational period for cricket and the players involved.

Cricket Australia has released the full schedule for the 2026-27 home summer of cricket, with no Test match to be held at the Gabba this year and a four-match Test series against New Zealand across the Christmas and New Year period which will comprise all daytime matches.
10 Tests in 14 weeks for our boys. Talk about overkill. But our blokes are paid the big bickies so suck it up.

Our Southern Stars have won the I/T20 first leg of their all white ball West Indies series. If you missed the games there are full replays on YT.

I have a quote from David Boon former Test player of over 100 Tests.

He told a Tas Cricket Member, that any current Shield player has the talent to play Test cricket.

However, it is a lot to do with mental toughness, resilience and attitude, to make the step up to Tests.

I would have thought it is hardest for a pace bowler of 125 - 130 kph to make the step up.

Batters, spinners, keepers would have a skill set they don't have to alter too much. Express bowlers might have to improve line, length, swing, seam movement.

💯 Much of excelling at cricket, in fact any sport, is played between the ears.
That's been Sam Konstas' problem.

Clearly a very talented batsman who has the raw talent there to be a star at international level but needs time out in the middle to iron out the kinks in his game.

If there's a bloke who needs to head over to England to spend the winter in the county system it is him.
