Disappointes with no tete yengi

Not sure if i see others missing

Congrats herrington!
Eventually names like Matthews and Herrington will mean reliable stability. I'm a visual type so reading names that may not scream out experienced or reliable make this squad seem a little immature in some areas but a deeper look shows class under 25.

I guess it's the lack of the older names we're used to having comfort from. A senior figure. I guess Ryan and Behich take captain duties?

Or Circati / Irvine

We'll see what Popovic does with Circati and Ryan for the armband with these friendlies I suppose.

For mine on form Gauci can count himself unlucky.
Disappointing not to get a look at Bennie or Borges Rodrigues at RWB.
Congrats to Herrington he could be some player.
Okon-Engstler should be competing against a different profile player to Ballard, it's puzzling that Ballard missed out on this squad though.
Unsure what role Boyle has in Popas system or what recent performance warrants continued selection.
Also have doubts that Popas system will suit Mabil.
I may tare out what is left of my hair if Popa selects Hrustic as a winger yet again.
Haven't seen enough of Deni or Suto to have an opinion.

My thoughts on the selection is that Popa has yet to finalise in his head the squad that he wants to take. Hence he is giving Beach, Mabil and O-E another look. Herrington & O-E are there as a fallback for Souttar.

I think it's accurate but I wish we were a bit more settled. In saying that we have about 2 weeks for a big camp in Florida and these players are adaptable so they'll have a very clear indicator who they want by then. I think I heard up to 35 will go to Florida and they'll have 13 or so before other leagues end.

Ugh the stiffing of Balard is the crime of the cycle. What else can he do? A League champion. Solid in Europe. Scores and played well for national team.

Can we hire his dad as French interpreter to increase his chances?
I took that job already lol. Je suis un francophone !

----------------Ryan
-----------Circati---Souttar---Burgess
----Metcalfe--Irvine-------------Bos
------------------Robertson
----------Irankunda------McGree
--------------------Toure

It's got to be this if we're going back 3. We need Metcalfe to go up and down but also come in and support the others. I'd like a way to squeeze Balard in too. A back 4 could do it much better.

To be fair I don’t think any squad is completely final even without injuries until a few months out. I must say too it’s harder to pick the Socceroos squad than the Matildas squad currently. Even though we have more top players in the women’s game than we do in the men’s game, we have way more blokes overseas and it’s way clearer who’s good enough for the Tillies than it is for the Roos.

Popovic was asked about Balard and he was very positive. Similar to Irvine, he said he’s in the middle of a relegation battle, good that he’s under pressure, and is fighting hard for his team.

Some pressing questions but easy answers for Popovic.

So Jedinak went and had dinner with Suto but we're not selling the shirt. Popovic reframed it as now bowing to anyone will to quit over not being picked. Fair enough but why do some players get more man management than others. It's same with having conversations with Volpato. So he's supposed to just walk in after everyone else did the hard job of qualifying?

Popovic clearly wants Souttar to be fit. Balard simply not an option this window which is fine. Atkinson wasn't even close he said.

Will be working during both of these so delayed viewing for me. I said put Mabil out there and see how he does in the system.

Who's your RB in a back 4?

This XI is what I want with Poppa's 5-2-3 but would prefer to see a 4-3-3 or even 4-5-1
