I thought he was more of an attacking winger like Irankunda, Boyle, Mabil but I've not yet seen him play, so will take your word for it. Even 2 "proper" strikers in a squad of 26 feels light to me.

My thoughts:

Gauci > Beach
Balard > Okon-Engstler
Sapsford > All forwards bar Irankunda
Bennie > Karacic
Rowles > Degenek, Geria

Degenek, Geria, Behich, Mabil all very meh.

Velupillay, Boyle, Juric very lucky.

I wanted to see T. Yengi.

If Suto can be brought in Segecic should have been a no brainer (spilt milk)

This squad feels very weak, particularly for depth.

This post is called common sense.

Mabil has been in good form and has experience but now we're toying with the system again so close to a tournament.

Stupid to not pick Bennie after the Scotland situation.

Volpato is a non event and shouldn't be considered. Popovic says he's won't chase players or beg but we're waiting for his response. Consider it all on hold and convenience.

Meanwhile Segecic was keen, got stuffed around and played his hand.

Should have been Tete, Sapsford and Iredale in a power vacuum. They're all good in their own right.

The problem is we don't play anyone new don't know. Herrington is a long term prospect but we can't not play him here then when him in the world cup squad with a question mark.

I'm alright with two inside forwards and then someone who can score at striker as I'm hoping for more ground play with passing and shooting instead of a target man.

Some teams have 3 shorter guys up front with good ball skills and it creates chances. The issue is out midfield behind lacks unless we play Robertson as an 8.

What’s Zac Sapsford gotta do to get picked? No Antonio Arena or Cristian Volpato either. Not sure what happened with those negotiations. Nishan Velupillay being there is an eyesore, he’s got two goals and one assist in this entire season.

I knew Ante Šuto would get picked and I’m all for it! As soon as it was revealed he’s part Aussie and moved to Hibs I knew we’d try and cap him. Nice to see Lucas Herrington in there too!

I've just woken up and didn't notice Irvine was rested and Mabil was in. A spark lacks though. Maybe it's Toure. I think the unfamiliarity on some names there and call me crazy, alphabetical order, doesn't make me realise how good it is we picked Robertson.

Okon being there is a stain over Balard. An absolute indictment.

I think Karacic isn't needed as we'd have Geria to cover Italiano.

That's nearly mir too I think. I think most agree on a core of players. I'd feel much better with Balard and Devlin. We've got to cut down on wing backs and extra centre backs. Geria offers a lot versatility.
