Women's Asian Cup match discussion thread

Yeah the situation is truly sad. Hopefully the regime is either completely toppled before they go back or they sign for clubs overseas to avoid having to return to what is in reality a shithole. Great people, terrible government.

My wife was a little saddened that the Iranian team had to completely cover up whilst playing last night.

She's a former Queensland state level hockey player so she understands the difficulties that playing in Queensland conditions can sometimes bring....

I mean she doesn't watch a lot of football so doesn't have an insight into the requirements for female muslims players in Asian competitions.

But I think a lot of people would have the same thoughts on this matter.

Myong Yu-jong converting a penalty in North Korea's 5-0 group B win over Bangladesh to extend her lead in the Golden Boot race to four goals, with North Korea cementing their place at the top of the group. China needing to defeat Uzbekistan by at least a seven-goal margin to top the group on for and against at the conclusion of matchday 2.
My bad China are playing Uzbekistan. A bit tired tbh.

I tend to agree. It’s not suitable to play 90 minutes of football in the heat whilst completely covered. The hijab should be optional and the burqa or niqab should not be worn on a pitch.

China defeated Uzbekistan 3-0 in the last matchday 2 game for group B to go two wins from two along with North Korea, but they remain second in the group on inferior for and against. As it stands the Matildas would be facing China in the quarterfinals.

Vietnam playing Chinese Taipei and India playing Japan to close out Women's Asian Cup matchday 2 with the last set of matches in group C, both of which are being held at HBF Park. The group is still quite close but Japan have a chance to cement their place at the top of the group with a win that would secure their spot inside the eight.

Possibly a reason why Anna Razz wasn’t picked. She’s apparently been stuck in Doha due to the war.

Chinese Taipei defeated Vietnam 1-0 in their Women's Asian Cup group C game at HBF Park, the penultimate matchday 2 fixture. The result sees them move to second on the group C ladder, level on 3 points with Japan and Vietnam but with head-to-head advantage over the latter, with Japan still yet to play their match against India in the late kickoff.

Japan leading India 5-0 at the half in their Women's Asian Cup group C game, with Hinata Miyazawa scoring a brace in the first half along with goals to Yuzuki Yamamoto, Yui Hasegawa and Kiko Seike.

Japan ended up defeating India 11-0 in the last Women's Asian Cup matchday 2 game, with Hinata Miyazawa and Riko Ueki getting hat-tricks and Kiko Seike scoring a brace. Yuzuki Yamamoto, Yui Hasegawa and Maya Hijikata were the other goalscorers in the rout, with the result seeing Japan secure their spot inside the eight and on course to top group C.
