Australian news and politics.

Bullshit.. I have marched on Turkish embassy, on Parliament house and in two massive rallys against the naming issue in Macedonia.... and have NEVER had a policeman so much as frown my way... Every protest p[peaceful, organised, and most importantly respectful..

If you don't fuck around, you wont find out....

law has changed now, is that hard to comprehend?

Sounds like you pick and choose your issues. So marching against muslims is good but for them not. I get it you hate turks but these laws are a joke.

So absolutely NOTHING different than the already existing right Police have to search and or detain people and or vehicles as per the past how many decades.

Key Aspects of Vehicle Searches in Australia:
  • Reasonable Suspicion: This must be based on specific facts, not just a "hunch". It includes suspecting the vehicle was used in an offence or contains illicit items.
  • Warrantless Search Powers: Under laws like the Law Enforcement (Powers and Responsibilities) Act 2002 (NSW), police may stop and search vehicles in public places if they reasonably suspect the above.
  • Consent: If police ask to search your car, you can refuse. However, if you consent, an otherwise unlawful search becomes lawful. It is advised to politely decline if you do not want them to search, but you must not physically interfere with a search.
  • Drug Dogs: In NSW, police generally need a warrant to use drug detection dogs to search a car in a public street, except in designated areas like Kings Cross.
  • Detention: Police can detain a vehicle to conduct a search. If stopped, you can ask if you are being detained or are free to leave

Carry on with your outrage.
Exactly. Provisions in place for years for certain situations such as visiting dignitaries. Dressed up by some paper such as the Guardian as a whole new thing.

No thats a load of shit I absolutely DO NOT hate Turks...

As much as I despise Erdogan (which most reasonable Turks also do btw - at least the ones I am friends with) if hypothetically some loony white pride arsehole shot a bunch of Turkish Australians having a festival I would WELCOME Erdogan to Australia and 100% support his right to help his diaspora mourn.. As I do the Jewish guy.... And trust me I have no love lost for their leaders either....

I feel sorry for the protesters, a lost tribe trying to find a connection in this world.... I just find it bizarre that religious persecution and misogyny means left wing these days, growing up its was the opposite.

We can just disagree.

I dont care about the protestor's tomorrow. The future is fucked though.
Its NOT so bad.... like Muz's mates from Betoota say, put the phone down brat... teach the kiddies (which I know you do) to love EVERYONE and above all have respect to themselves and others..... Leave the bullshit to the angry ones...

Indeed it WAS an Google search, but if it is Victoria and a more considered repsone you want:

In Victorian law since 1990 mate... see page 29, cops could ALWAYS detain and search on suspicion of a weapon, I don't really care what the langauge around these "new laws" has changed it as a politcal agenda, it amounts to the same thing.

Bottom line is if you don't put yourself in a position where you're actions could in any way remotely be considered as having the possibility of violence, odds are that you probably won't get detained by the jacks....
That's why the majority of people who did turn up the protest said their price and walked away fine. It was the thugs and idiots that decided to play games with the police once the sun started to go down. From the photos you can see people of every ilk misbehaving. Their squat den is probably next to the police station.

David Pocock seems to be the only one to stand up for the defenceless Aussie aid worker killed in cold blood, despite the IDF knowing precisely who she was and what they were doing.

Absolutely perfect. There's these blokes on here every day.

I believe Iran was brought up though not Myanmar 'if you care so much'.

Oh that's rich and ironic with the Betoota talking about selective outrage.

Well they get clearance from the supreme court 9was granted today), the difference here it's not designated areas. They have the power to just round up anywhere. (at least from my understanding, I have only read 127 pages).

Highlightng stupidity is not outrage. You can say something is shit, but in a taking the piss way. Not everyone is angry.

No it's just that because Israel is involved, whose actions need to be condemned, creates a whole subset of rabid idiots while they're dead silent on Iran and other places. It's been well analysed that a new Iran may change the ME balance so the protest groups are treading carefully on what to wish for.

Not doubting it. Got links for that? The most recent reports I can see myself are within a designated area. So now it's moved outside?

The ones who tried to overthrow him in a coup, but the police, army and people said no. So those supporters fled in exile?

I mean, if you try to overthrow someone in a coup, fail, and have to flee, pretty good chance they'll hate him. Doesn't mean they're "reasonable".

Before you come at me for not knowing, my cousin is married to them. I also spent a lot of time learning about the group and their programmes in countries outside turkey, including here in Aus.

The future was fucked and set long long ago.
This country is nothing like it was and the last 10yrs and less has slide down the rabbit hole faster than switching off your bedroom light !

Oh a billionaire

Whether you're correct about that or not the fact is the story, (satire) is largely true.

In fact we've seen the resident rocket scientists here say exactly that. (Substituting Iran for Myanmar.)

Did that article touch a nerve?

It's not fucked. People have been whinging about the the state of (insert name of country here) since Adam was a boy.

2000 years ago they were whinging about the 'youth of today' and the 'decay of society'.

The country is fine. So much melodrama because you don't like the PM.

Yeah yeah it's called civil disobedience.

One day you might want to protest the people you hate in your country. Hope the police don't flog the fuck out you because you decided to stand your ground.

Explain to me why the police charged the protesters the other night. What was the point of that?

He's not. He's a former rugby union player.

But even if he was does having money mean you can't care about other people?
I was waiting for you and I know his background very well and before articles as such
By the way may I remind you you have gone on about greedy billionaires yadda yadda but oh he’s ok.
Wonder how his accounting works around reducing his tax payments - just saying Muz.
