World cup 2026 Draw

How does that help. It does in football nations. I look at them like Qatar and South Africa - not France or Germany.

High ticket prices favour corporate and event goers. Paraguay, Turkey and Australia will be bringing vocal crowds. The current US team does nor play well in competitions. How will that pan out when the US struggle. It will be more like away games.
It absolutely helps in Australia. We aren't a "footballing nation" in the sense that France and Germany are.

This is a fair point too though. Nobody thought we could get out of a group with France, Denmark and Tunisia where only the top two teams advanced. Yet we did. So, why wouldn't we be able to get out of a much easier group with Paraguay, the US and a mid-tier European team where the top three teams advance?
We could, but I think the group is balanced enough that we could finish anywhere from 1st to last.

Our group is very very even. There is no powerhouse we have to contend with this time. Every game will be up for grabs. We know what we're gonna get with Popovic. 0-0 draws or ugly smash n grab wins. FIFA will definitely want the US to do well though...worst pot2 team ended up with the hosts after all...
Am sorted for Socceroos tickets now but missed out on a few other games I was after in the fifa random draw. Would love a late 1-0 win against the US having had 20% possession, no corners and 1 shot on goal. Will be a fun walk back to the hotel if this happens.

There's going to be a huge amount of motivation to want to beat the US in every game they face. I'd think a very high proportion of non-Americans are going to be cheering for "the other team" and loving seeing them lose.

I haven’t heard anything back yet from FIFA. My mate who I am going with (we both applied for tickets to increase our chances) got an email today saying he got tickets for the USA game and the conditional second round game, but not the Euro qualifier and Paraguay games 😬
Success! Got tickets to all three group games plus conditional tickets to round of 32. So between me and my mate we now have two spare tickets to each of the USA game and round of 32 (conditional).

How much did they end up costing?

A ridiculous amount. US$3500 for two tickets to each of 4 games, so about A$5000 for 8 tickets. That’s for the middle level tickets.
You can pay me and I'll provide the food and drink. I'll just kick a ball across the backyard from side to side with one wild kick over the fence to get you half excited.

All completely sound reasoning.

There is a strong likelihood that US are assisted through various unethical means to ensure they at the very least progress through the group stage.

I can already foresee a certain orange cheese puff using his power to sway whatever he can...he did after all receive a peace prize from FIFA.

Currently there are a number of matches at risk of being moved. While the Boston and Kansas city games will likely go ahead - host cities trying to get hold of frozen federal funds the Mexico City Stadium at this stage is not ready. FIFA is looking to make a decision soon after the 28 March friendly

Venues and Match Counts at Risk
City Venue Matches at Risk Key Decision Date
Mexico City Estadio Azteca 5 28 March 2026 (Portugal friendly test)
Boston Gillette Stadium 7 Mid-March 2026 (Security funding deadline)
Kansas City Arrowhead Stadium 6 Immediate (Staffing/budget deadline)

I wonder who they’ll replace with. Surely it’s too late to replace Iraq in the playoffs - maybe Iraq gets Iran’s spot, and the original playoff to face them becomes a final playoff to qualify?
