Hopefully Popovic buys a brain and selects him for the Socceroos now.
When he was at SFC he often didn't start.
His scoring acumen probably exceeded his discipline over 90 mins.

The excuses I keep hearing to exclude him from the Socceroos is becoming ridiculous.
His only crime is he never played under him for WSW, MV & Perth.

Agreed. If he stays injury free till next window any exclusion would raise some serious eyebrows.
There is a fair amount a player should do in between scoring goals.
- Taking up a defensive position in a team formation when the other team has the ball.
- Opening passing lanes for teammates when they are on the ball.
- Individual jockeying, showing, and delaying when challenging players 1v1.
- 1v1 heading duels, tackling duels and body on body duels.
- Shaking markers in attacking positions by checking (shaking markers).
- Reading play and anticipating play.
- Game sense.
- Football conditioning.
- Vision.
