Yeah I get that. My father was a high ranking union official in the UK for 30 years or so. He was on the harder side of left wing politics.

He knew lots of elected politicians, particularly in the British Labour Party and obviously lots of of people within the union movement.

He didn’t have a very high opinion of elected 'careerist' politicians.

He always said many of them were in it for the wrong reasons. In the 1990's when the British Labour Party started to gentrify under the Tony Blair lawyer fraternity he was seething....
Agree.

Don't want to derail the thread though.

On a serious note, I've recently seen an active, vibrant rugby league thread on G and G - with a whole lot of unique posters I hadn't encountered before.

If one adds cricket and bookreading threads, we have unique posters in those threads that seldom post in other areas of the forum. G and G is becoming quite diverse. There is minimal 'biff' in those threads and amongst the unique posters too.
The cricket and rugby threads are quite literally 2-3 posters agreeing with each other .. not sure what "biff" you are expecting?

I said I don't know where the 'biff' is that Melb City Guy alludes to? I'm not viewing those threads.

League thread looked like amicable discussion about the Bulldogs.

Just as your pretend credentials exceed yours
LOL!

I'll post my football CV and coaching badges to South Melbourne.

Appreciate you offering yourself as a referee, Mono. Very kind of you. I have no doubt Sinisa Cohadzic will appoint me as his assistant for the Oceania campaign with your unequivocal support!

I'm hearing on the grapevine a lot of cash is being splashed on the Hellas Oceania campaign too. It could be some nice supplementary retirement income.

Those are the "BDP" guys from the previous forum. When it went into Thai spambot mode they were finished like we were so Pasquali graciously gave them a home here. They're more than welcome to do their thing here like the cricket boys do, we welcome all sports here.

We also welcome ignorant Greek loudmouths and boring bloviating gasbags from Tasmania also. 😁

That would be amazing... I was beginning to think you would never again grace the universe with your encyclopaedic wisdom around the correct pelvic angle to receive the ball in the 6 yard box. Not sure which milieu within the club is involved in duplicitous development but I guess you can try the general admin email address?

A little worried about 3 straight months of decline in traffic in this forum

Is it because we are in the npl and socceroos off season and we don't have a big a league cohort?

I agree we don't want to be culty recruiters but I would like to see the forum grow

Yeah I think you're right. Most A-Leaguers are on Reddit, and it's the NPL offseason, and holidays.

Comparing to this time last season would be good, although we had the initial growth stage back then.

I think also it's just a low tide for the A-League as well, not as many seeking engagement. This is a great place, just need folks to discover it haha.

What else is out there for discussions? Reddit, Roar and 360 on their articles, X but it's full of fruitloops.

It was interesting to see 442 evolve, it was even more anti nsl clubs at its start than reddit, then kind of evolved over the years. Now we have a pretty small a league fan group. Hopefully we pick up in a couple of months

Maybe its because that aren't that many avenues for NPL fans to discuss their clubs in a "mainstream way" thats certainly what attracted me to the old 442 to begin with and this place is starting to grow a decent NPL group... and its not just Hellas anymore which is awesome.

Aleague fans would have so many other avenues for online congregation I guess?

Not for people that have followed football for years. I follow a CCM forum that is club focussed that is pretty realistic but general A League wide ones are pretty crap and Facebook supporters forums are basically whingefests. This forum is good for Socceroos, A-League and NPL

then maybe its true and Aleage fans in general due skew younger and are less inclined to engage on forums like us old farts :)
