Serie A 🇮🇹

https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...tralia-called-off-after-unacceptable-requests

The proposed Serie A game between AC Milan and Como in Perth on February 8th next year has been called off due to football sanctions and conditions imposed by the AFC towards Football Australia, and consequently Serie A and the Western Australia state government.

The AFC obviously are being difficult because a) they didn't get their cut or b) they weren't guranteed hospitality seats at the game.

I find it a very odd situation that the Supercoppa Italiana was held at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and the Lega Serie A was able to appoint their own Andrea Colombo as the referee as well as their own VAR's with no AFC intrusion.

If the AFC have not allowed the Lega Serie A to appoint the referee (as speculated )for a Serie A match, seems hypocritical and straight politics and using oversight to push an agenda from the AFC & keep these events in the middle eastern nations.

Or/also

Another possibility is the agenda has come from the FA (Football Australia) and the AFC are being used as the scapegoat from the FA wanting to get something out of this.

It takes this AC Milan v Como match being cancelled to highlight the politics of football in Australia.

As a Serie A fan it would be great to attend a match of a league I love in my country of birth but I am a traditionalist that believes the Serie A matches and all leagues for the matter when "playing for points, league matches" should only be held in the home country.

One of the most iconic images of Italian football taken 20 years ago this week....

Fiorentina actually started to wake up. Now eight points clear of relegation. Still a disaster of a season for them but they were 20th for a while.

CL race heating up with 2 rounds left to play.

Round 37 fixtures:

Pisa - Napoli
Como - Parma
Genoa - Milan
Roma - Lazio
Juventus - Fiorentina

Round 38 fixtures:

Napoli - Udinese
Verona - Roma
Milan - Cagliari
Torino - Juventus
Cremonese - Como

A lot of pressure on Max Allegri. No CL spot is failure and he probably gets sacked. I wouldn't be surprised to see Juventus drop points either.

I watched the Coppa Italia final yesterday and I thought the Paramount Plus pre game show was maybe a little strange....

It was at Paramount's CBC Sports studios in the USA and they had 3 young American-Italian guys doing the punditry.

Their footballing knowledge on the general Italian game was extraordinarily good and so was their attitude towards Serie A which I thought was extremely passionate!

The problem was that with their American accents, clipped beard trims and haircuts and their immaculately appointed attire, they looked like they had just walked off a scene in 'A Bronx Tale' or 'Goodfella's'!!

I was waiting for Danny De Vito to appear on set and take them out with a 'Tommy Gun'.....

Pisa 0-3 Napoli
Como 1-0 Parma
Genoa 1-2 Milan
Roma 2-0 Lazio
Juventus 0-2 Fiorentina

Some interesting results form last night. Napoli have clinched CL qualification, while the big story is Juventus losing at home to Fiorentina. Fiorentina and Torino stopping Juve from reaching the CL would be incredible and is something their fans would celebrate like winning the CL.

Milan finally reverse their run of poor form with a tough win at Genoa. However, the beef between Allegri and Zlatan continues to get aired publicly and surely at least one of these guys won't return next season. Roma the other major winner of the weekend, winning the derby and back into the top 4 with a trip to already relegated Hellas Verona next weekend.

I watched some of the Juve Fiorentina match and must say I was suprised at the difference in ladder position.. That first Fiorentina goal was superb football... I havent paid enough attention to Serie A for the past few years.
