I don't disagree that we need to blood youngsters, but it would be unfair to drop him based off of what he has done in this test. Asked to step in last minute and if we are honest, he stabilised us in the 1st innings. I reckon he is done after this series, but you have to base players off of what they have done in this series.
Usman’s batting average this year is 38. Aged 39.

Webster has averaged 35 with bat, and 23 with ball in Tests this year, and is Aus’s top slipper. Aged 31. He is always in the game.

How is Usman in instead of Webster? Ditto Inglis.

Also, how can Neser be dropped after 6 or 7 wickets in Bris? He can bat too.

Usman is only going to go downhill. We need McSweeney, Konstas, Kellaway becoming established. Playing with a core group of experienced players.

A tip.

On YouTube look out for Atherton, Nasser Husain and Stuart Broad Podcast on Sky - free.

Very analytical, comprehensive and illuminating. They cover every day’s play.

I don't disagree with you on almost everything you are saying, but the reality is, Usman has earned his spot for the next match based on his performance here. If anything, I can see them dropping Inglis, but if they do that, going with a 2nd all rounder doesn't exactly make sense.

I don't see them dropping Green. They wouldn't. Even though I don't think he is the prodigal son, CA clearly do and so that's why Webster stays out.

So Smith takes back his spot. Inglis drops and in comes Ussie. You can't compare Usman with Webster as they play different roles. Unfair to bring in the bowling stats for Webster.

Neser gets dropped for the captain. An argument could be made him for Boland.

Have a look at my post a few down.

Long term he is blocking, or selectors are blocking younger players gaining experience. Usman is also the worst fielder in the team.

Usman has been a terrific batter - but time to go back to Shield cricket. He is 39 yo.

McSweeney, Kellaway and Konstas are between 20-24.
Konstas would suit England. He only wants to play Bazball

Sorry guys cant agree. When he cackles at his own jokes, most of which are more lame than funny, I wanna scream. Yes astounded how he reached Test status.
Yeah - it is a bit much. When I was young I used to watch him in the Shield at the MCG. I was probably 12 and he was a very young spinner. Always came across as very shy. Quite different now.

Correct DC, but he had been dropped before Smiths illness forced him out. Being dropped at his age is serious. I say allow him his swan song in Sydney as he deserves it , whether for form or sentimentality.

You concur with most other Crick Tas Members, Baggers!

85 is definitely enough to keep your place
If one looks at Usman over a few years he is mediocre.

Average 38 this year. Liability in the field.

He was incredible for a sustained period when he was selected after being dropped and overlooked for a few years.

At some stage the selectors have to clear out some 35 plus players.

I think Konstas is running alright in the Shield for New South Wales, posting 116 and 53 in their most recent game against Queensland, but not sure if the selectors are going to pick him for the Boxing Day Test.
This is good to hear.

Richie identified another young NSW opener, Ryan Kindrell?, in the NSW second eleven too. Looked good live. Only 20 years old.

I’m going to try and put the wheels in motion to recruit him for the Apple Isle. It is probably already happening.
