My notion of replacing Lyon with Rocky or Murphy is renewal.

We need to start some time blooding players in their 20s. We are 2-0 up in the Ashes.

Hey, I am with you Jon. Forgot about Neser, in for Boland.

Re my thinking Josh will prob retire, he comes out with the opposite by saying his body remains robust and he intends playing more Test cricket. And no plans to drop white ball either which he really has to do for his longevity.

Poms are in for a surprise if they are expecting a 'batting paradise' tomorrow says master keeper Alex Carey with data showing the Adelaide pitch won't necessarily be easier to bat on with a red ball.

Wickets have in fact fallen at a quicker rate than in pink-ball matches, with batting averages are also lower in red-ball games.

Statistically, only Bellerive, Hobart has proven a harder venue for players to score runs in Tests over the past decade, when accounting for both day and day-night Tests.

Batting averages by Test venue over past decade

Gabba: @28.39

Adelaide Oval (day-night): @28.07

Perth Stadium: @27.23

Adelaide Oval (day): @22.77

Australia XI: Travis Head, Jake Weatherald, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Cameron Green, Alex Carey (wk), Josh Inglis, Pat Cummins (c), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Scott Boland.

I'd have gone Neser over Boland and Webster for Inglis. Still that is sufficient quality to wrap up the Ashes. Great to see the return of our skipper, while Trav and Weathers will enjoy opening on their home track.

Inglis ahead of Webster is the selection that puzzles me.

They must think that Inglis is a future top 6 batsman?

People used to fap on about NSW players getting a baggy green cap along with their blue one upon state selection, seems that has changed to Western Australia.

There's no other logical explanation for Webster to be overlooked for Inglis, it's a total nonsense.

They must. Still Webster offers more than just batting so that is why I wanted him included. Could he come in for a sick Steve Smith or will Ussie have a reprieve instead.

Pat win toss and bat and bat and exhaust the Pommie quicks in these oppressive conditions. They will be cooked by day 3.

Baffling this mystery illness of Steve Smith. Has Archer put a voodoo spell on him. ;)

Yes he will. Wrong call for mine. Websters all round contribution incl his excellent slip work with super fielder Smith out, is a no brainer. Jeez this current CA regime will do just about do anything to hold onto players well past their best. Ussie needs to score nothing less than 50 to save his teetering career.

He has and will.. Only problem is a fired up Archer after words were spoken last match. Watch out for his sandshoe crusher Trav and Weathers.

No speed gun used by 7? Wanna know how fast Archer is bowling. Not bothering Trav or Weathers as yet.
